David Nagy

David serves as Managing Partner at DHR, where he leads the Asia Pacific Industrial Practice. He has resided in Mainland China continuously since 1995 and is a veteran of the executive search industry in Asia.

David began his search career in Shanghai in 1998 and has led hundreds of successful searches to recruit China country heads, Asia Pacific regional heads and functional leaders at the Greater China and Asia Pacific levels. He has advised clients across a broad range of sectors, including but not limited to automotive, industrial technologies, supply chain, chemicals & process industries, capital & electrical equipment, building & construction materials and industrial services. David has also completed senior level searches in the consumer, life sciences and advanced technology spaces.

Prior to his current position, he served as Managing Partner overseeing the firm’s operations in China and the teams in the Shanghai and Beijing offices. Before joining DHR, David began his career in recruitment with a leading Asia-based regional recruitment firm, then later co-founded a Shanghai-based boutique executive search firm that he merged with a leading global firm in 2004. Before entering the executive search profession, he worked with Mundet, a privately held Toronto-based manufacturer of specialty papers, at their joint venture in Longyou, Zhejiang.

David was on the board of directors of the Canada China Business Council and the Canadian Business Forum in Shanghai for six years and served one year as President. He has spoken at events organized by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the British Chamber of Commerce in Beijing. He has also given presentations to several Master of Business Administration programs in Shanghai. He received his Bachelor of Arts in East Asian studies from McGill University in Montreal and completed a graduate management course in Asia Pacific management at Capilano College in Vancouver. He speaks, reads and writes Mandarin Chinese, and is fluent in French and English.
