Philip DeBoer

Since joining DHR in 2015, Philip has successfully recruited CEOs and other executives to nonprofit organizations spanning arts and culture, zoos and aquariums, social services, healthcare, economic development, and higher education. He has built a vast, diverse network of leaders, and he is widely recognized as a trusted and valuable consultant to clients and candidates. Prior to his career in executive search, Philip spent seven years recruiting for institutions of higher education.

From 2021-2022, Philip earned his Master of Management in International Arts Management from some of the world’s premier arts management graduate programs at Southern Methodist University, HEC Montréal, and SDA Bocconi School of Management. His graduate studies took him across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. His thesis The Case for a Code of Ethics for Arts Managers argues for a universal code of ethics bound by an arts management licensure.

Philip has served on the auxiliary boards of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Auditorium Theater, and Steppenwolf Theater. He contributes to thought leadership with his research and writing.

Philip also holds a B.A. in Communication Arts & Sciences from Calvin University.
