Susan Flippen

Service is at the heart of everything Susan does. As CEO of the Flippen Group, she has helped grow the company from its inception in 1990 to its current position as a premier leadership and organizational development company, specializing in bringing out the best in people. She believes success is a result of a team truly dedicated to each other and the clients they are privileged to serve. Flippen Group was voted #2 in Texas Monthly magazine’s listing of Best Companies to Work For in Texas.

Before the Flippen Group, Susan was general manager, senior vice president, and a member of the Board of Directors for Anco Insurance, where she managed one of the nation’s largest insurance agencies with outposts throughout Texas. Beginning her career in data analysis and technology advancement, she was the youngest person ever to be made an officer in the organization and reported directly to the president and chairman. Anco Insurance, a multimillion-dollar organization when she joined, grew six-fold during her leadership tenure there.

Susan graduated from Texas A&M University, where she studied both computer science and accounting. She joined as a staff accountant at Lyndel Beene, Certified Public Accountants, working on all aspects of accounting in numerous industries. She managed payroll and accounts receivable, prepared monthly financial statements, prepared federal tax returns for individual, corporate, and partnership clients, and provided audit assistance for oil and gas and non-profit clients. She also managed the company’s IT systems and investment analysis software.

Susan has received numerous awards for her executive leadership during her years at the helm of the Flippen Group. She and her husband, Flip Flippen (founder and chairman), were awarded regional Entrepreneurs of the Year by Ernst and Young. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in areas that include innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Susan has also been widely recognized for her philanthropic leadership. She serves on the boards of numerous community organizations both locally and globally, and has received the distinguished award in her community: Women of the Brazos Valley. Susan and Flip enjoy their large family and hundreds of colleagues who make up the Flippen family of companies.
