Penny Gibbons

Associate Consultant

Since joining Academic Search in 2017, Penny Gibbons has served in the roles of associate consultant and consultant, conducting more than 40 searches for public and private institutions across the country, including searches for president/chancellor, provost, academic deans and department chairs, general counsel, and senior-level positions in enrollment management, career services, advancement, and student affairs.

Ms. Gibbons brings to Academic Search diverse knowledge in enrollment management, advising, marketing, advancement, retention, and student success from her 13 years of higher education experience at both public and private institutions at the community college, four-year, and graduate levels. She previously served in a variety of roles, including Coordinator of Academic Advising, Staff Writer/Communications Coordinator, Director of the Academic Resources Center, and Director of Graduate Admissions. Ms. Gibbons earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stetson University and a master’s degree in psychology from Radford University.

In her role, she prepares written documents for searches; assists with advertising; maintains a database of prospective candidates and a website of applicant materials; performs various research functions; and assists the senior consultants during committee meetings and semifinalist interviews. In addition, at times, she participates further in the strategic management of the search, including candidate cultivation, evaluation, and vetting, as well as serving as a principal contact for candidates, search committee members, and the hiring authority.
