Andrea Cowsert

Since joining Academic Search in June 2012, Ms. Cowsert has been engaged in more than 80 searches for a variety of both public and private institutions. The searches for which she has assisted have included chief executive officers, provosts and the full range of cabinet-level vice presidents, and deans of major academic units.

Ms. Cowsert earned a Bachelor of Arts dual degree in magazine journalism and policy studies from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in international affairs from American University. She has a vast professional background, having previously worked for the American Council on Education, USAID, U.S. Department of State, and the White House. She also has worked as a Research Editor for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and written articles for national publications such as Country Living, USA Weekend, Martha Stewart Weddings, and Everyday Food.

Ms. Cowsert has extensive training and experience in research, sourcing, networking, and candidate generation. For your search, she will assist in identifying prospects for initial outreach, maintain a log documenting the consultants’ interactions with candidates, work with semifinalists and finalists on the logistics of their interviews, compile information about select candidates, and manage administrative tasks throughout the search, including preparing written documents and assisting the senior consultant(s) during committee meetings and candidate interviews.
