Industrial Search Partners Opens In Pittsburgh
January 23, 2017 – Industrial Search Partners (ISP) has added Sarah Stewart as a director to open its new Pittsburgh office.
Ms. Stewart has over 25 years of executive recruiting experience and has conducted executive and board-level search engagements for companies in a broad range of industries. She has managed recruiting assignments for board directors, CEOs and other operating executives, CFOs, CIOs, and senior human resources, investor relations and corporate communications executives. She also has been active with board level recruitment over the past 15 years and is a founding member of the board of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors, where she currently serves as treasurer.
Most recently, Ms. Stewart served as a partner with Boyden in Pittsburgh. Before that she served as a senior associate with Spencer Stuart.
“Sarah is an exceptional professional with a presence that extends our firm’s capabilities,” said Patrick Ference, managing partner of ISP. “Her background and experience are a fitting complement to ISP’s breadth and specialization.”
Pittsburgh In the Crosshairs
Ms. Stewart’s addition to the ISP team is in keeping with the firm’s founding commitment to exclusively serve clients in the industrial segments, said Jason Ward, an ISP managing partner. That puts Pittsburgh square in the firm’s crosshairs. As one of the most prominent American industrial cities, Pittsburgh has long been home to established heavy industry. “Now, there are also manufacturing entrepreneurs taking advantage of what some have called our nation’s ‘hardware renaissance’. This makes Pittsburgh an excellent location for ISP’s next office,” he noted.
Pittsburgh has adapted since the collapse of its century-long steel and electronics industries. The region’s economy has shifted to high technology, robotics, healthcare, nuclear engineering, tourism, biomedical technology, finance, education, and services. A National Bureau of Economic Research report named Pittsburgh the second best U.S. city for intergenerational economic mobility.
The largest employers in the city are the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is also home to Bayer USA and the operations center of Alcoa. Other major employers include Bank of New York Mellon, GlaxoSmithKline and Lanxess.
Industrial Search Partners specializes in targeted talent acquisition dedicated to industrial manufacturing and services, transportation, supply chain & logistics, aerospace, automotive, and the oil & energy sectors. Over the last two decades, ISP has gained experience in placing more than 250 candidates in executive positions across a broad segment of the market.
The firm recently acquired Ference Partners, a Virginia / metro Washington, D.C.-based recruiting firm founded by Patrick Ference. Mr. Ference brings over 25 years of corporate leadership and senior executive search expertise focusing on assignments largely in the industrial sector to Industrial Search Partners, where he is now a managing partner.
