StevenDouglas Opens New Office in Westchester County

December 5, 2018 – Executive search firm StevenDouglas is continuing its recent expansion with the opening an office in New York’s Westchester County to service client demand both locally and in the Northeast. The firm appointed Don Zinn as VP of executive search and leader of the location.

This marks the 15th StevenDouglas office opened in the U.S., and the fifth new office location for the firm this year.

Mr. Zinn is a CEO and entrepreneur with over 30 years of sales, management and hiring experience, specializing in helping organizations grow through people-focused management. His experience is focused on helping companies scale to the next level, and successfully fill out their management teams with optimal talent and fit. He has devoted his career to building technology companies with a focus on the consumer products space, and built the go-to-market (sales and marketing) process and organizations for those businesses.

Mr. Zinn has been in search for the last 13 years, focusing on sales, marketing, finance and human resources leadership. Previously, he was a partner with Jobplex. Before that, he was founder and managing partner of boutique firm Exigent Search Partners. Prior to entering the search field, he founded seven companies, raised over $25 million in private and venture equity, sold three companies and has been an Inc. 500 winner and a finalist in the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Executive Leadership Experience

“What makes Don so special to our organization is not only the many years of recruiting experience that he has, but more importantly all the time he has spent in executive leadership roles,” said Matt Shore, president of StevenDouglas. “His experience gives him invaluable insight into the kind of talent a client needs, as well as a full understanding of the role itself, making him a true advisor to the companies he serves.”

Mr. Zinn said that StevenDouglas is a perfect fit for him. “With a focus on middle market, often PE funded and fast growing companies that are working towards scaling and growing to the next level, we have a unique ability to bring together a best-in-class recruiting team along with a rigorous search process that will result in client success – an optimal hire,” he said.

New York City is currently undergoing the largest and longest job expansion since World War II. A report by the New York City comptroller said the city added 72,700 jobs last year, and in the eight years since the end of the recession employment has grown by 702,200, more than during any other expansion. In the same report from February, business services was said to be the largest source of new jobs between 2009 and 2017, accounting for one-quarter of the gains.

Growing Search Firm

StevenDouglas continues to be in growth mode, reporting a 200 percent increase in personnel in the last five years, with numerous offices opening across the U.S. Recently, the firm opened a new office in Miami. “The Miami office will also be home to our rapidly expanding Latin America division,” said Mr. Shore. “It’s many of the relationships our CEO Steve Sadaka started building when he founded the firm in Miami almost 35 years ago that are still some of the top clients we work with today, placing talent all over the U.S., Canada and Latin America.”

This marks the firm’s sixth office in the Sunshine State. Leading the office is Ken Heinrich. Mr. Heinrich joined StevenDouglas in the HR search division last year as a senior recruiter. His sales and recruiting experience make him an important part of the continued success and growth of this practice.

This spring, the firm acquired Tallience, a full-service technology search, staffing and consulting firm located in Fort Lauderdale. As part of the acquisition, Tallience founding partner Tim Baron joined StevenDouglas as managing director of its Washington, D.C. metro office. Tallience was started in 2010 by Mr. Baron and his partners. The firm, which has a strong presence and client base in Florida and the Mid-Atlantic region, delivers technology talent across various industries in the commercial sector as well as cleared talent across the federal government.

Prior to that, the firm expanded with the launch of a new office in Atlanta and the addition of David Mauger as a director of technology search. Mr. Mauger is responsible for developing StevenDouglas’ information technology search practice by leveraging his experience in recruiting executive and middle-management professionals across cybersecurity, data and analytics, application development and emerging digital technologies in the Atlanta area.

Earlier this year, StevenDouglas expanded into Canada with the opening of a new office in Toronto. Navinder Binning, who joined the firm as vice president, is leading the executive search business in the Canadian region, said the firm. Her focus is on further developing the recruiters’ presence by delivering high-caliber talent for Canada’s leading industries including industrial and mining, energy, real estate and life sciences. Before joining StevenDouglas, Ms. Binning was a principal with the Bedford Consulting Group, where she helped place C-suite executives and operating managers into many of Canada’s emerging and established organizations within prominent global industries.
