HVS Executive Search Paul Savage Vancouver, B.C. Office

December 21, 2017 – HVS Executive Search has opened a new office in Vancouver, British Columbia, which will be led by vice president Paul Savage. In his new role, he will also lead the business development strategy for North America and Europe.

“Paul comes to HVS with meaningful global hospitality relationships,” said Court Williams, CEO of HVS Executive Search. “In addition to partnering with senior consultants on business development throughout North America and Europe, he will provide HVS clients with a myriad of executive search services.”

Mr. Savage has worked with nearly every major North American hotel brand. He developed and implemented national web brand and recruitment tactics along with online digital solutions for IHG, Marriott, Fairmont, Ritz-Carlton, Hyatt and Accor. As one of the original sales development team members of hotel recruitment website Hcareers.com, Mr. Savage possesses a results oriented professional background, said the search firm. Mr. Savage has expertise in all areas of direct sales and business-to-business within the hospitality industry. His prior experience includes a prime focus on business development, software sales, digital media, social media and marketing, project management and recruitment sales.

HVS Executive Search provides human capital advisory services to leaders in the hotel, restaurant, food service and travel/leisure industries. Practice areas include senior-level executive search, mid-management recruitment and organizational development with offices in New York, Denver, Orlando, Atlanta, San Diego, Los Angeles, London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Mumbai and New Delhi.

An Industry In Rebound

After taking a massive hit during the Great Recession, employment and hiring within the hotel/hospitality industry has begun to rebound. Tens of thousands of jobs have been added in recent years.

To help fill that growing need for top talent within the sector, HVS has expanded in various areas over the past year.

Recently, the firm launched an executive onboarding service, a holistic approach of ensuring that new executives have the tools and information needed to quickly become an integrated, effective and contributing member of their new team. The new initiative is led by Dr. Michael Grimes and Tim Savage. In an environment in which statistics show significant new-hire turnover within the first 18 months of joining a new firm, HVS’ onboarding service is designed to help executives effectively assimilate to the professional, social and cultural challenges of a new role and organization.

Given the time and expense associated with the hiring of executives, we felt it important to offer our clients a professional onboarding service that would accelerate a new executive’s productivity and cultural alignment,” said Mr. Williams.

Global Expansion

HVS also recently launched HVS Executive Search Africa, based in Cape Town. The outpost focuses on corporate positions, general managers and department heads in the hotel industry across the continent. “One of the challenges of running hotels in Africa is finding good quality people,” said Tim Smith, managing partner at HVS in Cape Town. “Then once you’ve found them, and put them into position, you’ve got to find ingenious ways to retain them because with the huge number of hotels opening up across the continent, talent poaching is fast becoming a persistent and challenging problem.”

In March, HVS named Florian Kittler as SVP, Asia Pacific. He is based in Hong Kong. Mr. Kittler has over two decades of experience in the hospitality and executive recruitment industry across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
