StevenDouglas Names VP, Technology Executive Search
April 24, 2024 – Executive search firm StevenDouglas has appointed Matthew Richards as vice president, technology executive search. “What sets Matthew apart is his strategic and detailed approach to executive search,” StevenDouglas said. “Rather than solely focusing on finding candidates, Matthew delves deep into understanding organizational dynamics and talent requirements, collaborating closely with the C-suite to build transformational leadership teams. This approach both addresses immediate hiring needs and also aligns with the long-term organization goals.”
With over 25 years of leadership in retained search and corporate recruiting leadership, Mr. Richards’ career spans early-stage pre-revenue startups, PE-backed high-growth companies, and a global Fortune 200 consulting company. He brings expertise in attracting top-tier leadership talent across various sectors and functions including engineering, IT, security, data, and AI, specifically catering to the needs of private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
Previously, Mr. Richards was managing director at DanePartners, which provides retained search and talent advisory services for PE-backed and global enterprise technology and tech companies. Before that, he was director of the private equity practice for Riviera Partners. During his career, Mr. Richards also gained experience with Cognizant Technology Solutions, ZoomInfo, and Heidrick & Struggles.

Earlier this year, StevenDouglas expanded with the opening of a new office in Houston, TX. This added to the firm’s presence in Texas after opening offices in Austin in 2021 and Dallas in 2022. StevenDouglas also has a location in San Antonio. “The most recent expansion in Houston is a huge opportunity as the firm has recruited over a proven and experienced team of three women that have all worked together at their prior firm,” StevenDouglas said. “In fact, Robin Payne and Janel McNeal were the founding partners of the firm, McNeal & Payne Talent, and Kyla Janecek was a successful recruiter on their team. All three StevenDouglas employees bring an extensive recruiting background in the state as well as direct work experience in finance and accounting and more importantly they are a great team that works incredibly well together.”
“As StevenDouglas continues to expand across the U.S., Texas is critical to the firm’s long-term success given it is one of the largest economies in the U.S. and many top companies are moving to the region and long-standing companies are expanding their businesses and workforce in Texas,” said Matt Shore, CEO of StevenDouglas.
40 Years in Business
StevenDouglas recently celebrated 40 years in business. “On this big milestone anniversary, I am feeling grateful for the trust and confidence that our amazing clients, candidates and employees have put in us for so many years”, said Mr. Sadaka, chairman. “I remain committed to our roots as a boutique high-touch service business, with a great culture where employees can be themselves and enjoy coming to work, while having great opportunities to grow personally and professionally. We are doing something special here and I can’t imagine the last 40 years any other way.”
“It’s an honor every day to lead such an amazing team and be a part of a South Florida mainstay that companies have counted on since the early 1980’s,” said Mr. Shore. “Over the last two decades we’ve used our drive and passion for excellence to expand our footprint and capabilities to be able to serve a broader client base and create more positive outcomes for our clients and candidates.”
