Sharon Garb

Managing Director

As a partner recruiter, Sharon Garb is candidate-driven. No one law firm is the same as the next. Her goal is to find the best fit for her candidates’ practices. She has been very successful in her approach, winning a firm-wide award for her successful partner placements in 2014.

Sharon attributes her success to four key factors: (1) truly understanding and caring about her candidates’ needs; (2) learning about the inner workings of law firms and their growth strategies so she can be of value to her candidates; (3) working with her candidates as a team to identify law firms that would best meet their goals and where they can grow their practices; and (4) effectively marketing the candidates to the selected law firms.

Sharon was a litigator at Skadden, Arps for over a decade before she joined Major, Lindsey & Africa. At Skadden, Sharon focused on M&A litigation, securities litigation and real estate litigation. She feels that her substantive legal experience contributes to her success as a recruiter, as she has a strong understanding of practice synergies and various industries as well as an ability to write and negotiate persuasively. Further, Sharon’s career at Skadden gave her exposure to various practice groups, including M&A, real estate and corporate finance. She also worked on litigation relating to Bear Stearns, from which she gained exposure to bank finance, funds and derivatives.

Sharon lives on the Upper West Side with her daughter. She enjoys exercising, reading, traveling anywhere and spending time with her family.
