NETcon Taps Sheffield Search to Find CEO
June 20, 2018 – New Zealand-headquartered executive recruiting firm Sheffield Search has been selected by power transmission company NETcon to lead its search for a new chief executive officer. The assignment is being led by Nick Gee, manager of Sheffield’s South Island operation. “This role offers both challenge and great opportunity with the chance to shape an organization as it redefines itself for the future,” said the search firm.
NETcon’s CEO is expected to provide leadership to a team of about 100 staff, implementing and embedding organizational transformation projects, developing a culture of accountability and enhancing NETcon’s performance, said Sheffield Search. The CEO will focus on ensuring a commercial approach to the business, place great emphasis on organizational health and safety and maintain the company’s reputation for service delivery.
Ensuring Safety
The new CEO will be charged with leading the staff to bring the company to its full potential, said Sheffield Search. Among the CEO’s responsibilities, the individual will be expected to help ensure personal safety and the safety of others as a matter of priority, and ensure that all risks are identified and managed. The new leader should also lead by personal example. The individual will report monthly to the board, meet regularly with the chairman and other board members as required, prepare a reliable budget and ensure that the board meets statutory requirements, including financial reporting.
The CEO will also lead business development, identify and assess new business opportunities in terms of financial and strategic value, nurture enduring relationships with key stakeholders and potential customers, and deliver on customer expectations, among a range of other duties.
“The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified, with prior CEO/GM level experience ideally gained within a contracting/maintenance or infrastructure management related background,” said Sheffield Search. Highly commercial, the CEO will possess exceptional leadership, communication and relationship management skills along with the ability to lead change, drive growth and embed a strong health & safety and values driven culture.
Seeks Proven Leadership
NETcon seeks proven senior executives who have worked in a commercial environment and have managed a like-sized team and external resources over multiple disciplines. They should also have business development and project management experience with multi-faceted jobs. Contract management, senior technical / engineering management and comprehensive electricity network configuration knowledge are also desired.
Among the expectations for the role, prospects should prove themselves a highly effective and respected leader who sets clear expectations with an embedded culture of accountability. They should also have recognized change management skills, be able to successfully lead multi-faceted teams and achieve commercial goals, and relate exceptionally well to people as well as establish and maintain excellent relationships with staff and stakeholders.
