Lucas Group Opens Contract Legal Division in Baltimore
February 23, 2018 – A number of search firms that specialize in the legal sector have grown their staffs over the past several months.
The latest: Executive search firm Lucas Group has continued to expand its legal contract recruitment practice by opening a new Mid-Atlantic contract legal division based in Baltimore.
It will be led by senior partner Karissa Hayko and serve the growing needs of U.S. corporations and law firms for temporary legal talent in the Washington, D.C. and surrounding region.
The new division provides law firms and corporate in-house legal departments with attorneys, paralegals, legal support and compliance professionals on a temporary contract, temporary-to-hire and long-term basis. The practice serves mid-tier to Fortune 500 companies ranging from boutique to global 100 law firms.
“Increasingly, law firms and companies are opting to staff their teams and departments with temporary legal support until they are certain there is a need for a permanent hire,” said Steven Lynch, general manager of legal at Lucas Group. “They also are able to work with the individual on a trial basis to review work product and measure fit.” It is a more efficient, immediate and cost-effective talent solution, he said. “Our new, specialized recruiters in our Baltimore branch have direct access to the nation’s largest legal talent network, bringing top performers directly to Mid-Atlantic companies.”
Legal Veteran
Ms. Hayko, who joined Lucas Group in November, has 15 years of experience in the legal industry, including a decade providing outside support to corporate legal departments and law firms. She was previously senior manager of business development for Deloitte Services in Washington, D.C., where she was responsible for identifying and developing relationships with both law firms and corporate legal departments for Deloitte’s advisory practice related to its technology, e-discovery, cybersecurity and information governance services.
“Karissa has serviced the legal industry for 15 years with more than 10 of those years providing support to corporate legal departments and law firms,” Mr. Lynch said. “With her deep understanding of the Mid-Atlantic market, she is uniquely suited to support organizations with their legal talent needs.”
