Heidrick & Struggles Recruits CEO for Hanover Insurance Group
May 17, 2016 – Heidrick & Struggles has recruited Joseph M. Zubretsky as president and chief executive officer of The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. He succeeds Frederick H. Eppinger, who announced his intention to retire.
Mr. Zubretsky is an accomplished leader with more than 35 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries. He joins The Hanover after almost nine years at Aetna, where he served most recently as CEO at Healthagen Holdings, a group of healthcare services and information technology companies, and a member of Aetna’s executive committee. Prior to that, he was senior executive vice president leading National Businesses, a $10 billion Aetna flagship concern that provides health solutions to multinational companies. He also served as Aetna’s executive vice president and chief financial officer.
He joined Aetna from Unum Group, where he was senior executive vice president, responsible for the company’s finance, investments, marketing, strategy and risk operations, from 2005 to 2007. Previously, he was a partner at the global private equity firm of Brera Capital Partners and EVP of business development and CFO at MassMutual Financial Group.
