Heidrick Lands CEO for Tiger Brands

April 11, 2016 – Heidrick & Struggles has recruited Lawrence Mac Dougall as chief executive officer of South African-headquartered Tiger Brands Limited. He takes over from interim CEO Noel Doyle who retained that role after the departure of past CEO Peter Matlare at the beginning of the year.

With the assistance of Heidrick, the board adopted a rigorous five month process to interview and select its newest CEO. The result was Mr. Mac Dougall, who brings a track record of leading complex local and multinational organizations in challenging environments across Africa, The Middle East, Eastern Europe and Russia. He has extensive FMCG experience in excess of 25 years in the confectionery, beverages, snacks, groceries and biscuits categories.

He previously worked as managing director of Bromor Foods and Cadbury (Pty) Ltd in South Africa. Mr. Mac Dougall also led Kraft Foods and Mondelez International as regional president.

“We are delighted with the appointment of Lawrence Mac Dougall and are confident of his abilities to lead the organization and to deliver on the strategic objectives of Tiger Brands,” said chairman Andre Parker. “We have found an exceptional new CEO in Lawrence, who has sound commercial and strategic acumen, the demonstrated ability to lead extensive growth and business turnaround strategies and the leadership skills to develop strong integrated teams that deliver continuous sustainable performance.”
