Ridgeway Partners Names Managing Partner

May 4, 2016 – Executive search firm Ridgeway Partners, Ltd. has appointed Sue O’Brien as its new managing partner.

In her expanded role, she will focus on growing revenues, exploiting new opportunities, as well as setting out strategy. Philip Marsden, the firm’s founder, will continue as chairman as the company moves towards a full partnership structure.

Ms. O’Brien joined Ridgeway this past September. She most recently served as chief executive officer of Norman Broadbent PLC.

Having begun her career in retail at Sainsbury’s, Ms. O’Brien became managing director of a leisure business and later moved into executive search. In 2003, she was appointed managing director of Garner International before leading the acquisition and subsequent turnaround of Norman Broadbent in 2009.

Ms. O’Brien is a board member of Walpole British Luxury and the Chartered Management Institute, a non-executive director of MK-LF partners, a founder member of The Women’s Business Council, chair of a fundraising group for The Tissue Bank Cancer Research charity, and a trustee for KidsOut.

“I am delighted Sue has become managing partner, and also a director of the company,” said Mr. Marsden. “She brings valuable experience from her previous roles and has already brought new clients and fresh ideas, as well as enthusiasm and vigor to our business. With Sue driving the firm forward and leading such a dynamic and talented group of partners and associates, I’ve no doubt we will continue to grow from strength to strength.”

Ms. O’Brien said she joined Ridgeway Partners to immerse herself in client work and working with candidates. “Since September, I have already delivered several non-executive appointments in FTSE 100 and 250 businesses and executive board and CEO roles in the FTSE 100 and private equity market,” she noted.

“We are such a tight knit and collaborative group of equity partners that becoming managing partner will not detract from that plan at all,” she said. “It’s a great business and I look forward to both the brand and team growing in recognition in the coming years.”

Founded in 2004, Ridgeway Partners is an advisory firm specializing in executive search, board appointments and succession planning for domestic and international clients across a wide range of sectors. Based in London, the firm also has offices in Glasgow, New York and Boston.
