April 11, 2016 – Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA) has launched a new managed legal services offering, which will provide corporate clients with process analysis, customized action plans and implementation assistance.
The managed legal services team will address their clients legal process needs, optimizing resources and creating improved efficiencies around routine legal work. Mark Yacano leads the team, which operates within the solutions practice group, from the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
Mr. Yacano joined Major, Lindsey & Africa in 2014 as global practice leader to assess the market and begin building the firm’s managed legal services offering. With 25 years of experience in the legal and business worlds advising clients on the management of complex and multi-jurisdictional litigation, he is focused on developing high quality services that will be offered in a cost-effective manner.
In addition, the firm has added Jeff Catanzaro as a managing director in New York City to help fuel growth in the new service. He has more than 10 years of domain expertise and is a subject matter expert in contracts management and outsourced legal services. Mr. Catanzaro previously served as managing director at Huron Consulting Group, where he developed and led Huron’s contract management services offering and assisted in the development of an industry leading contract automation tool called K-CREATE.
“Given today’s regulatory landscape and companies’ heavy internal focus on maintaining budgets, legal departments need to figure out how to approach age-old matters differently,” said Greg Richter, partner, vice president and global head of MLA’s solutions practice group. “Our managed legal services offering provides legal departments with highly customized process solutions. We will help build teams and deploy resources in an outsourced model that best fits their needs.”
Since the start of the year, MLA has been bolstering its staff. In early February, the firm appointed Ronald Stevens to the firm’s partner practice group in Houston. With more than 20 years of comprehensive experience as a practicing lawyer and talent management consultant in both the U.S. and Europe, he focuses on representing individual partners and partner groups in the lateral marketplace.
A few weeks before that, MLA named Stacey Breen and Peter Van Son as directors in its partner practice group in New York. Ms. Breen is a litigator with over 15 years of experience. She was previously a partner at law firm Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz in New York. Mr. Van Son is a legal operations executive and attorney with a successful track record at major AmLaw 100 firms.
In January, MLA named Jennifer Silver as executive director and global head of marketing and communications. She is based in the firm’s Boston office and will be responsible for strategic marketing for both MLA and Allegis Partners, its sister company focused on executive search.
