ON Partners Lands CFO for McAfee

April 27, 2017 – Executive search firm ON Partners has recruited Mike Berry as executive vice president and chief financial officer of McAfee. Mr. Berry been a CFO for more than 10 years in both public and private technology companies. Most recently, he served as EVP, CFO, and chief operating officer at FireEye, responsible for worldwide finance, accounting, data analytics, investor relations, facilities, procurement, information technology, manufacturing operations, and internal audit.

Prior to that, Mr. Berry served as CFO of Informatica. Additionally, he led finance and other operations for a number of technology companies, including IO, SolarWinds, and i2 Technologies.

Critical Timing

“I’ve known Mike for a while now — we served together on the board of directors of Rapid7,” said Christopher Young, McAfee’s chief executive officer. “He understands the complexity and challenges of our industry, and he believes in the unique perspective we bring to the market.”

Mr. Berry’s appointment comes at a critical time for the company, which is in the process of completing a blockbuster spinout from parent company Intel. “While this has been a very difficult decision, I feel it is the right time to take another position that aligns better with my personal and professional goals and that I truly feel is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Mr. Berry confided.

McAfee is a global organization with a 30-year history and a brand known the world over for innovation. McAfee’s historical accomplishments are founded upon decades of threat and vulnerability research, product innovation, practical application and a solid brand which individuals, organizations and governments have come to trust.

The company recently turned to ON Partner to hire Alan Kohn as vice president of tax and treasury. Mr. Kohn previously served as VP of tax for MoneyGram International.

A Recent Merger

The firm currently has consultants working from offices in Atlanta, Baltimore / Washington, D.C., Boston, Cleveland, Dallas, Minneapolis, Portland, and Silicon Valley.

Just recently, ON Partners recruited Bradley B. White as secretary and CFO and Ted Tewksbury, Ph.D., as a director and executive chairman of the board at publicly traded Energy Focus. Partner Bryan Buck and co-founder and managing partner Tim Conti led the searches. Mr. Conti has concentrated his practice on CXO, vice president, and board level searches, recruiting senior leaders to technology, industrial, and energy companies. His recent work has centered on disruptive companies in the areas of wireless, cloud computing, datacenter infrastructure, distributed energy generation, and consumer electronics.

Last month, Wurster Partners merged with ON Partners, bolstering the firm’s expertise in global consumer brand recruiting. Founded in 2010, Wurster Partners has worked closely with both public and private companies across the consumer industry. The firm has also developed a reputable foothold in corporate officer and diversity recruitment in areas of marketing, digital, information systems, human resources and finance.
