Bowdoin Group Appoints VP and Practice Leader

Bowdoin Group Scott Vierra VP Practice Leader

November 2, 2017 – Search firms in all sectors have been in growth mode in recent months. The latest: Boston-headquartered executive recruiters Bowdoin Group has named Scott Vierra as vice president and practice leader. Working closely with other executives at the firm, he will initially focus on the financial services and fintech markets before eventually shifting to the firm’s software practice.

Mr. Vierra has nearly 25 years of industry experience, with a proven track record of executive search consulting and strategic hiring planning. Previously, he was a senior member of the global talent acquisition team for research and advisory services company Gartner. Before that, he founded two executive search firms, including 75 Search Partners, a financial services executive search boutique in Boston. Mr. Vierra co-led the sale of 75 Search Partners to Heidrick & Struggles, and continued on as a partner and executive search consultant at the firm.

“We are excited to welcome Scott as Bowdoin’s new vice president and practice leader,” said David Melville, founder and CEO of the Bowdoin Group. “He is a hands-on leader whose experience structuring top-tier recruiting practices will further Bowdoin’s mission to be the go-to search firm for the innovation economy. We could not be happier to have such a highly-motivated individual joining our team.”

Boston Remains Hot Spot for Executive Recruiters
Stanton Chase International has added Dickson Smith, John DiBenedetto and Robert Mulligan to its Boston office. The move comes as the city and its outlying suburbs become attractive hubs for companies and the search firms that service their talent needs.

Serving Boston

Founded in 1994, the Bowdoin Group specializes in leadership and strategic roles for a wide range of companies, from small firms building out their executive teams to large firms sourcing talent for rapid market expansion. With deep expertise in biopharma, digital health, fintech and financial services, and software, the firm specializes in the Greater Boston area with the ability to source talent and service companies globally.

The Bowdoin Group recently added Jeremy Halpern, a partner at Nutter, McClennen & Fish LLP, to its advisory board. With the appointment of Mr. Halpern, Bowdoin’s advisory board consists of three members, including Neal Goldman of EaglePoint Advisors and Paul Joubert of Ares Management. “We are thrilled that Jeremy is joining our board during an exciting moment in our growth,” said Mr. Melville. “He is an accomplished business leader and experienced board member, and we have no doubt that Bowdoin will benefit from his judgement and counsel.”

Growing Market

Boston and its suburbs have a wealth of businesses focused on technology, venture capital, manufacturing, clean technology, consumer, business services, higher education, non-profit, and high growth, all looking for cutting edge talent who can keep them competitive in their respected fields.

“Boston is jam-packed with prestigious educational institutions, including Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Tufts University,” said Peter Metzger, vice chairman of DHR International. “This alone speaks volumes to its potential for housing great C-suite candidates. Much like San Francisco, a large percentage of recent graduates stay nearby to start their own ventures in this historic city.”
