Allen Austin Appoints Head of Life Sciences and Healthcare Practice

June 29, 2017 – Executive search firm Allen Austin has expanded operations in Houston by selecting Katherine Beal-Roblin to head its life sciences and healthcare practice.

Ms. Beal-Roblin brings to the firm more than 20 years of healthcare consulting experience and an extensive professional network. Previously, she served as client partner with Kirby Bates Associates. She started her career at a Phoenix contingency-search firm, later she joined Hewitt Partners International, a retained healthcare executive search firm. She later founded her own retained healthcare executive search firm, United Chase Group, and moved to the Houston area.

Over her healthcare consulting career, Ms. Beal-Roblin has recruited top executives for an array of prestigious for-profit and not-for-profit organizations such as the Advisory Board Company, Albany Medical Center, AMN Healthcare, Blood Systems, Inc. (and its divisions Blood Centers of the Pacific and United Blood Services), Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cardinal Health Distribution, City of Hope, Hartnell College of Nurse Instruction, Kaiser Permanente Hospitals, Scripps Health System, the University of Texas Medical Branch and VistaCare Hospice, among others. She has developed longstanding relationships with her clients, supporting them at both the tactical and strategic levels, leading to recurrent engagements.

Search Work

Ms. Beal-Roblin’s consulting practice with Allen Austin will range from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, whether private or public, and cover all aspects of the healthcare industry. This includes searches for academic medical centers, healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations in a variety of disciplines within biotech, health system – hospital administration and nursing / allied health leadership, pharmaceutical distribution, hospice, healthcare IT, nurse instruction faculty and chair, managed care organizations, blood banking, risk management, and more.

Growth Mode

Recently, Allen Austin established a new hub in Istanbul and has added offices in Turkey, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. Serkan Yagcioglu joined the firm as VP of international operations and will lead all global business from Istanbul with the primary goal of expanding Allen Austin’s operations outside the U.S. His focus is on growing the firm’s partnership model, executive recruitment method and leadership development strategy in Asia Pacific (mainly in China, Singapore and India), Latin America, Germany, France, Netherlands and Eastern Europe. Previously, Mr. Yagcioglu served in various roles with global healthcare company GSK. With over 10 years of experience, Zoran Marinkovic also joined Allen Austin as partner for the Middle East and Africa, based in Dubai. He has conducted searches in industries such as industrial gas, oil & gas, supply chain and consumer goods. Previously, Mr. Marinkovic served as head of the Middle East at Cripps Sears. Also, Celina Ayala joined the firm as partner for Spain and Portugal, based in Ibiza, Spain. With a track record of identifying and aligning leaders for both publicly traded and venture capital / private equity-backed organizations, Ms. Ayala previously served as vice president of renewable energy and cleantech at Enlow & Associates Executive Search.

In addition, Allen Austin named Michael Catlow as managing partner of the firm’s business in Asia Pacific. In this role, he leads the firm’s activities across Asia Pacific with a focus on the key hub markets of China, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia. Mr. Catlow has over 25 years of experience working across APAC in senior management and leadership roles. In recent years, he has led many global and regional executive search mandates identifying senior executives, including CEO, chief operating officer, chief commercial officer and CFO across the broader APAC, Africa and Americas regions. This has included providing strategic advice to numerous corporations in attracting key leadership through the management of global assignments in the technology, industrial, transportation, consumer, mining / resources and not-for-profit sectors. Most recently, Mr. Catlow was a principal with TRANSEARCH International and before that spent 17 years as a managing director with Boyden.

Allen Austin also added Paul Moran as managing partner and global technology practice leader. He has over 25 years of experience in executive search and leadership solutions servicing clients on a variety of projects across functions, including board selection, general management, professional services, sales, marketing, finance and engineering. Most recently, Mr. Moran founded and led his own boutique search and leadership advisory firm, CapFuze. Immediately prior to CapFuze, he was managing partner of Boyden’s Boston office.
