Rokos Group Seeking CHRO for Keck Medicine of USC
July 22, 2026 – Newport Beach, CA-based executive search firm Rokos Group has been retained by Keck Medicine of USC to lead in its search for a new chief human resources officer. The CHRO will serve as a strategic executive leader responsible for recommending, developing, implementing, administering, interpreting, coordinating, and evaluating human resources strategies, policies, programs, laws, and procedures pertaining to staff. They will oversee central HR functions including workforce planning, recruitment, compensation administration, training and employee development, performance management, employee relations, payroll, employment records, and other employment services.
This executive will ensure human capital strategy and human resources processes are successfully implemented at the organization and division level and aligned with overall organizational strategic objectives. The CHRO will serve as an internal consultant to executives, management teams, supervisors, and employees on personnel matters and will coordinate closely with central university human resources, payroll, employment services, and other university offices.
Candidates should possess a master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, human resources, public health, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in an academic medical center at the administrative leadership level is required, along with experience in hospital administration within a large and complex setting. Healthcare executive HR leadership experience is also required, as is labor relations expertise, including experience with organized labor, collective bargaining agreements, grievances, negotiations, employee relations matters, and union relationship management.

Mr. Pass has held senior leadership roles at the national health services organization Optum. In his most current position, he served as president overseeing provider clients and pay-vider clients (healthcare organizations that deliver care and manage the financial aspects of care). Before working at Optum, Mr. Pass held several senior financial leadership positions at John Muir Health, a health system located in Contra Costa County in Northern California, culminating in his role as CFO.
