Alex Bates, Chief Executive Officer – HelloSky

Prior to joining Sapphire Ventures, Tiff was an Employee Experience Program Manager in the office of the CEO at MuleSoft, a Salesforce company. David Chie is the founder of Maple Drive Executive Search and the owner of Palo Alto Staffing, a legacy Silicon Valley search firm that has recruited for much of Sand Hill Road for 45 years. Palo Alto Staffing places the executive support layer underneath: chiefs of staff, executive assistants, and operations talent across the same client base.

A pioneer in the development of the cybersecurity recruiting industry, Matt co-founded Artico Search with Mercedes Chatfield-Taylor to lead the team helping companies protect against cyberwarfare. He built the original cybersecurity search practices at two global firms — Russell Reynolds and Caldwell Partners — nailing more than 300 executive-level searches in a hyper-competitive market by serving as a trusted advisor for Chief Information Security Officers. John Dahlgren joined SBJ in 2022 as Vice President of Talent, bringing over 13 years of experience in executive recruitment, human capital planning and private equity. John collaborates with SBJ’s investment teams, partner company executives and executive recruiters to develop and execute customized recruiting plans for strategic hires.

Prior to joining SBJ, John served as EVP of Talent at Tide Rock Holdings, an investment firm focused on lower middle-market buyouts of founder-led businesses. John managed the talent function across a portfolio of 11 companies in services, healthcare and manufacturing. Prior to joining Tide Rock, John was a Principal with Bespoke Partners, a retained executive search firm dedicated to partnering with leading private equity firms to recruit talent at every stage of the investment lifecycle, from growth equity to buyout. Jenny Kang, Talent Partner – Battery Ventures

Jenny Kang leads the talent practice serving venture/growth companies in the Battery portfolio. She selectively executes some high-level searches for portfolio companies and manages a preferred group of retained and contingent search firms, as well as referring executive-level candidates to portfolio companies for open roles. More broadly, she serves as a resource on talent and company-culture best practices, including team building, compensation, negotiation, referencing and employee on-boarding.

Prior to Battery Jenny was the head of executive go-to-market recruiting at Sequoia Capital. There, she supported key executive searches and offered counsel on searches related to functions including sales, marketing, customer success, sales/business operations and business development. She also helped manage and advise on searches for critical internal hires, including the CMO and head of investor operations; she also organized and hosted community-building events for the firm. Before joining Sequoia, Jenny was a senior associate in Spencer Stuart’s technology, media and telecommunications search practice. In that role, she identified and developed candidates for senior-level executive searches at companies ranging from early-stage startups to large public enterprises, with an industry focus on enterprise technology (hardware, software and SaaS), security, telecommunications, e-commerce, digital media and entertainment.

Before starting her career in executive search, Jenny was a defense attorney, running her own private practice and working as a contract attorney for other law offices. She represented individuals charged in state and federal court with misdemeanors and felonies through all stages of their respective cases, including trial.

Jon Landau, Partner – SPMB

Jon is a Partner at SPMB, founder of the firm’s Colorado office, and a seasoned executive recruiter and global talent acquisition leader with 20+ years of experience in the industry. He and his team recruit CEOs and all functional reports to the CEO for PE-backed growth companies across the country, with a particular focus on high-growth Tech hubs beyond Silicon Valley, including Boulder, Denver, Salt Lake City, Austin, Seattle, and beyond.
