Robert S. Altman, Ph.D., is an Of Counsel partner at Quick Leonard Kieffer. Dr. Altman is a broadly experienced healthcare industry executive and entrepreneur with proven success leading both mature and emerging biotech and pharmaceutical businesses. His technical expertise and management experience spans commercialization, product and clinical development, medical affairs, RA/QA, compliance, manufacturing, and business development. Dr. Altman will be assisting with client consulting in the executive search process with a special emphasis in the biopharmaceutical space.

Dr. Altman has been appointed an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he created and teaches a new class entitled “Entrepreneurship for Science and Medicine”; he has also been appointed an entrepreneur- in-residence at the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the school. During 2018, Dr. Altman served as the interim CEO of a Phase 3/Phase 4 pharma company.

In 2015, Dr. Altman stepped down from his role as president of Pinnacle Biologics, Inc., a subsidiary of Concordia Healthcare (TSX: CXR; NASDAQ: CXRX). Pinnacle is a fully integrated specialty pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, and commercializes ultra-orphan oncology drugs, oncology support drugs, and medical devices; there, Dr. Altman led the commercial strategy and global execution of the product portfolio and the growth strategy for strategic acquisitions and partnerships. Prior to serving as president of the company, Dr. Altman was its chief commercial officer.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Altman held executive positions with Abbott Laboratories, Marathon Pharmaceuticals, and Astellas Pharma.

Since stepping down from Pinnacle, Dr. Altman has been serving on the boards of Toltec Pharmaceuticals and Preora Diagnostics; as a mentor for Chicago Innovation Mentors; and as a member of Hyde Park Angels, which provides a forum for entrepreneurial- minded individuals to invest in seed and early stage businesses.

Dr. Altman holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of California Riverside, an MBA in finance and marketing from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a PhD in chemistry from Harvard University.
