Morgan Samuels Appoints Emerging Products Practice Co-Leader

March 1, 2017 – L.A.-based executive search firm Morgan Samuels has named Udo Eberlein as senior client partner and co-leader of its emerging products practice.

Leveraging his experience in scaling technology companies, Mr. Eberlein will partner closely with partner Monica Bua. He will be based out of Sausalito, CA, and will continue to expand Morgan Samuels’ presence in the Silicon Valley market.

Silicon Valley is home to many start-ups and global technology companies. Apple, Facebook and Google are among the most prominent businesses that call the area home. It is also the site of technology-focused institutions centered around Palo Alto’s Stanford University. Silicon Valley accounts for one third of all of venture capital investment in the U.S., which has helped it become a leading hub and startup ecosystem for high-tech innovation and scientific development. For search firms looking for business and expansion opportunities, it doesn’t get much better than being here.

Mr. Eberlein comes to Morgan Samuels from Auckland Partners, where he led the firm’s Bay Area office as an associate partner focusing on bringing Silicon Valley innovation and best practices to German midcap companies. He was also the co-founder of Good to Go, a mobile platform for consumers delivering the benefits of e-commerce technology to offline retailers and brands. Mr. Eberlein formerly served as chief revenue officer at Greenwave Systems, an ‘internet of things’ platform provider.

Over the course of his career, he has led private equity and venture-backed companies across Europe, the U.S. and Asia and was instrumental in ramping up Nero, a consumer software company, where he served as president, COO and CEO. He has advised several Fortune 100 companies on their organizational design, product, sales and go-to-market strategies.

Human Capital Consulting Acquisition

“Udo and I have been working together for a decade – he’s been a client and a candidate and we’re thrilled to have his next gen technology domain expertise at the firm,” said Ms. Bua, who serves as senior client partner and leader of the emerging products practice. “His background perfectly complements mine, as my client base has primarily been B2C, while Udo brings experience in SaaS, IoT, Cloud, Big Data and Edge Computing. He will be a real asset to our enterprise clients.”

“Morgan Samuels’ leading-edge methodology is unparalleled in executive search,” said Mr. Eberlein. “I am very excited to be working with such a top notch team as we continue to build our emerging products practice and footprint in the Bay Area, the world’s largest cluster of technology innovation.”
