Locum Leaders Names President

December 21, 2016 – AMN Healthcare Services, a provider of healthcare workforce solutions and staffing services, has appointed healthcare recruiting veteran Bonnie Britton as president of its interim search specialist Locum Leaders.

Ms. Britton brings a background in leadership and business development, including more than 15 years related to healthcare recruiting. Her management experience across healthcare, marketing, advertising and IT gives her unique insight to anticipate industry trends and provides perspective into the many components of healthcare and physician recruitment. She most recently served as senior vice president of sales at Staff Care, an AMN Healthcare company.

“We are thrilled to announce Bonnie’s promotion to president of Locum Leaders,” said Susan Salka, AMN Healthcare president and chief executive officer. “Under Bonnie’s leadership, our locum tenens team will expand our footprint and upgrade our offerings to clients.”

Acquired by AMN Healthcare in 2015, Locum Leaders is a national  recruiting firm that matches qualified physicians to interim assignments at healthcare facilities nationwide. The organization sources locum tenens practitioners across a wide variety of specialties and locations.

Acquisitions Drive Expansion Strategy

Over the last few years, acquisitions have been a key growth driver for AMN Healthcare. Early last year, the company took over nurse and allied healthcare staffing firm Onward Healthcare (OH). AMN Healthcare also acquired Irvine, CA-based The First String Healthcare, a leading provider of nursing staff. It also took over Millican Solutions, a physician executive search firm focused on serving academic medical centers and children’s hospitals. That acquisition included cash payments totaling $4 million.

Earlier in the year, AMN Healthcare Services acquired B.E. Smith for $160 million in cash. Founded in 1978, B.E. Smith was a full-service healthcare interim leadership placement and executive search firm. For nearly a decade, it has been recognized annually by Modern Healthcare as one of the top search firms in its sector.

And the company appears to be ready for more M&A activity in 2017. Just recently, it named veteran healthcare executive Matthew Zubiller as senior vice president of corporate strategy, a new role that will help lead the continued development and expansion of AMN. He is actively involved in further evolving the AMN Healthcare enterprise strategy across all business units and corporate functions.

Healthcare is among the most rapidly growing employment fields, according to analysts at Hunt Scanlon Media, which tracks trends in the executive search and leadership solutions space.

According to the most recent U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report, healthcare employment continued to trend up during the month (+28,000). Healthcare employment rose by 28,000 in November. Within the industry, employment growth occurred in ambulatory healthcare services (+22,000). Over the past 12 months, healthcare has added 407,000 jobs.

Based in San Diego, AMN Healthcare is a leader and innovator in healthcare workforce solutions and staffing services to healthcare facilities across the nation. Its workforce solutions include managed services programs, vendor management systems, recruitment process outsourcing and consulting services. AMN Healthcare’s clients include acute-care hospitals, community health centers and clinics, physician practice groups, retail and urgent care centers, home health facilities, pharmacies and many other healthcare settings.
