HARTZ Search Retained by Geisinger to Find New CIO

November 18, 2025 – Charlotte, NC-based HARTZ Search has been tapped by Geisinger in Danville, PA, to lead in its search for chief information officer. The CIO will serve as an integral member of the executive leadership team and will be on-site. They will provide vision and leadership for information technology (IT) in support of the system’s mission and strategic priorities.
HARTZ Search also noted that the CIO will lead, plan, implement, and maintain IT in support of the clinical enterprise, health plan, academic enterprise, and system affiliates. They will champion process improvement and lean methodologies to execute strategic plans and achieve organizational goals. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working and influencing effectively in a highly matrixed and relationship-driven culture.
The ideal candidate will be a transformational leader with deep expertise in healthcare IT, data and analytics, and digital health innovation. They will have a proven record of leading large-scale technology optimization, fostering strong partnerships with operational and clinical leaders, and driving technology-enabled improvements in quality, efficiency, and patient and member experience. A collaborative leadership style, strategic agility, and commitment to advancing Geisinger’s mission through technology will be key to success in this role.
Geisinger comprises 10 hospital campuses, two research centers, a college of health sciences, a school of nursing, and a 600,000+ member health plan serving more than three million residents in central, south-central, and northeast Pennsylvania and beyond. There are approximately 26,500 employees, including over 1,700 employed physicians, all of whom share a commitment to quality healthcare.
HARTZ Search was also recently called in by Geisinger to lead in its search for an executive vice president and CFO. “Our client is seeking a dynamic financial executive to collaborate with the CEO and the executive leadership team to set enterprise-wide strategy, define the financial and non-financial objectives of individual entities and areas, and create a climate of accountability,” HARTZ Search said in a LinkedIn post. The CFO will report directly to the Geisinger CEO, and will have 9 direct reports and oversight of $7 billion in revenue. The new CFO of Geisinger will provide strategic and operational leadership over the financial management of Geisinger.

In partnership with the executive leadership team, the executive vice president and CFO will establish strategic financial, operational, clinical, and administrative goals and policies for the system. This position represents a unique and important role for Geisinger at a time of rapid change in the external environment.
