Gerard Daniels Appoints New Asia Pacific Senior Leader
August 16, 2019 – Executive search firm Gerard Daniels, headquartered in Perth, Australia, has appointed Paul Pryde as the new practice leader for its oil, gas and energy activities. Mr. Pryde will lead the firm’s work across the Asia Pacific region.

With more than 20 years of experience in the energy and resource sectors, Mr. Pryde’s expertise in international executive search extends across Asia Pacific, EMEA and the Americas. This experience, combined with his background in senior human resource management roles across the oil and gas industry, adds additional senior leadership and regional expertise to Gerard Daniels’ team of HR consulting and advisory specialists.
Highly Capable
Across his career, Mr. Pryde has carried out assignments at the board level, C-level, senior leadership and functional management level for a variety of ASX, SGX, FSE and NYSE listed entities, private companies and private equity backed businesses.
Mr. Pryde, who will be based in Perth, is active in the upstream, midstream and downstream oil, gas and energy sectors across a wide spectrum of areas including drilling, exploration and geoscience, operations, engineering, transportation, production and refinement, as well as sales and marketing. Additionally, his human resources advisory and consultancy capability covers a host of areas including organizational design and workforce planning through to leadership development and global mobility.
CEO Close-Up: Alison Gaines
Alison Gaines serves as CEO of Gerard Daniels. Following a 12-year tenure as the head of its board consulting practice and recently as managing partner of the firm’s Asia Pacific practice, Ms. Gaines now leads the firm to continue to drive growth across all regions and offices. She works closely with the advisory board, which includes the firm’s founders, and executive management group to execute strategy and lead financial performance, business development, assignment quality, internal talent acquisition and compliance.
He holds an MBA from the University of the West of Scotland and is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Recent Appointments
In June, Gerard Daniels named Jason Wright to the role of managing partner Americas, based in its Houston office. Mr. Wright is a highly-experienced recruitment and staffing professional with more than 20 years’ involvement in the oil and gas and energy sectors, primarily in the Americas markets.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Wright has handled senior-level project management and engineering professionals’ assignments for global oil and gas operators and EPC engineering businesses, including NYSE, TSX, FTSE, ASX and OSE listed entities, private companies and private equity backed businesses.
Mr. Wright is active in the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas sectors, the renewable energy sector, and the utilities and related infrastructure sector.
Gerard Daniels also made two senior appointments to its Perth team to undertake AsiaPac search, naming Alex Da Silva as practice leader and Doug McKay as principal consultant.

Mr. Da Silva helps bolster the firm’s finance and strategy search team. He has over 10 years’ experience recruiting at the senior professional and executive level, across a variety of industries in Australia and internationally. After beginning his career with KPMG, Mr. Da Silva moved into the recruitment industry, holding a senior role with a leading global recruitment firm based in Canada. On his return to Perth, he joined a specialist finance recruitment firm where he managed a team of recruitment consultants.
Mr. McKay is a strong addition to the firm’s public sector, non-profit sector and HR executive search team. He has more than 21 years of talent management and executive search experience in the public sector, community, not-for-profit and industrial sectors across the Australian market, particularly in Perth and Melbourne. Mr. McKay has extensive experience executing chief executive, general manager, statutory leadership, corporate services leadership, finance and human resources assignments.
