Clarendon Executive Selected by Fold Ireland to Find New CEO

January 30, 2020 – Belfast-headquartered executive search firm Clarendon Executive has been called in by Fold Ireland to lead its search for a new CEO. Managing partner Ciaran Sheehan is leading the assignment.

Fold Ireland provides a unique combination of accommodation and associated service options. As well as providing apartments and houses for older people, families and people with dementia it also provides day care and supported housing with 24-hour care for frail and older people, mainly in the greater Dublin area.

“The organization is now entering a very exciting time of growth and development with a record number of homes already under construction in the Dublin area and a significant build program ahead,” said Clarendon Executive. Fold Ireland is looking to appoint a talented CEO who will play a leading role in delivering the growth and positioning the organization as a key player among housing associations as it helps to meet unprecedented demand for quality housing.

“This is a very rare and interesting role that offers the opportunity to lead a very dynamic organization that makes significant social impact,” Clarendon Executive said.

The CEO will be expected to help guide the board in shaping the strategic vision and corporate objectives of Fold Ireland and take full ownership for the delivery of those objectives, in line with the organization’s ethos and values. “We are not necessarily seeking an individual with housing association experience; of greater importance is the requirement to appoint a highly commercial leader who can engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and partners,” Clarendon Executive said. “You should have at least five years within the last 10 years at a senior management team level and through your career demonstrate a strong track record of delivery of a strategic growth plan and can evidence success in enhancing organizational performance and the customer experience.”

Applicants must also have good business acumen with strong financial, risk management and governance experience. “A practical understanding of the care sector and the societal challenges of delivering high quality care to older people or understanding of the complexity of key issues that affect social housing and the wider housing market, is desirable,” the search firm said.

Serving Northern Ireland

Clarendon’s expertise spans the private, public and third sectors. The firm focuses on identifying talent at board, NED, C-suite and senior executive level across the management disciplines (general management, commercial, marketing, and digital) and operational effectiveness leadership roles (operations, finance, risk, compliance, technology and HR).

Mr. Sheehan brings 25 years of experience to his executive search and selection assignments sourcing exceptional individuals for board, C-suite and senior management positions within many of Northern Ireland’s most successful and fastest growing companies and most complex public sector organizations. He works across all industries and sectors placing individuals into senior-level strategic and leadership roles, including non-executive chair, non-executive director and key public sector appointments. Mr. Sheehan said he remains on the lookout for dynamic individuals with experience in the following sectors: financial services, construction, technology/ICT, manufacturing, engineering, public sector, voluntary sector and start-ups.

Clarendon Executive is also in the final stages of the CEO search for Belfast Met, a higher education institution in Belfast, Northern Ireland. “We have already had strong interest from candidates over the Christmas and New Year period and made a final call for applicants before the closing date of Jan. 13,” said Mr. Sheehan. “We are pleased that level of this role is attracting interest from senior executives from a range of backgrounds and those outside of Northern Ireland seeking the opportunity to return home for a fresh challenge.”
