Candidate Demand Up in San Francisco; Multiple Offers, Competitive Pay Packages Rising

September 25, 2015 – Russam GMS, a provider of interim managers and executive search solutions, has opened a new office in San Francisco. The opening of the new location follows high demand for executive talent from technology companies and the venture capital community to meet the needs of growing sectors such as FinTech and MedTech.

Russam GMS director, John Schonert, will head the office, which will assist expanding U.S. organizations to identify executive talent as they develop operations in Europe and the Far East. The office will also handle mandates within the U.S.

Mr. Schonert formerly served as senior manager, executive recruitment, for The BGL Group and also gained executive search experience as the executive search & talent advisor, global talent acquisition consultant and coach at ReCal Consulting, a retained search and leadership development organization operating across the technology and life sciences sectors.

“Our new U.S. office is another key step in the double-digit growth of Russam GMS since our management buy-out last year – and stays true to our core value of innovation,” said Jason Atkinson, managing director of Russam GMS. “As part of the WIL Group we are in a global network of 15 firms with offices in 35 countries – and this addition does our bit to expand the group just as much as us. Alongside our joint ventures and separate business units such as Trustees Unlimited, Step on Board, NEDgroup and Devonshire House, our San Francisco office demonstrates to our clients just how seriously we take what we do as the U.K.’s premier and longest established interim management and executive search firm.”

Mr. Schonert added: “I’m delighted to be creating the first U.S. office for Russam GMS – I’ve found that more and more of my time has been spent in the States working with U.S. firms of all sizes so the next logical step was to set up an office here. I’m really looking forward to the coming months where I will now have the time to meet as many people as my diary will allow and explain what makes Russam GMS that little bit different.”

According to the San Francisco Bay Area Professional Employment Forecast from Robert Half, 52 percent of San Francisco Bay Area CFOs surveyed said it is ‘somewhat’ or ‘very challenging’ to find skilled candidates for professional-level positions; 77 percent of hiring managers plan to hire for open roles in the next six months.

“Highly skilled candidates are in great demand throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and they often receive multiple job offers with competitive compensation packages,” said Sharon Black, senior district president for Robert Half in the San Francisco Bay Area. “We’re seeing particular demand for professional-level candidates in accounting, finance, administration and technology. Recruitment and retention are crucial as businesses here continue to launch and expand.”

Founded in 1982, Russam GMS is a U.K.-headquartered interim management and executive search provider. The firm’s specialties include: education, professional services, government, not-for-profit, manufacturing, engineering, aerospace & defense, technology, media & telecoms, energy, private equity, financial services, healthcare, retail & consumer, search, international.
