November 3, 2016 – Executive search firm Caldwell Partners International has recruited Kevin Cash chief financial officer of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
Michael DeCosta, a partner and leader in the firm’s professional services practice, led the search along with Kristin Hebert, a leader of Caldwell’s legal practice and managing partner of its San Francisco office.
Mr. Cash previously served as CFO of law firm BakerHostetler. He also served as an adjunct professor for accounting at the University of Akron. Earlier in his career he gained finance experience serving as a partner with Ernst & Young.
Driving Lasting Change
“Orrick, like other law firms, increasingly relies on its financial executives to address pricing pressures in a hypercompetitive market, drive new operating models and alternative fee arrangements to meet client demands and preserve profitability, and provide analysis on inorganic growth strategies,” said Mr. DeCosta. “These critical contributions go well beyond custodial oversight of the firm’s finances – being CFO at a law firm has always been a big job; it’s now even bigger and more visible.”
As such, he said, Orrick sought a CFO who could drive lasting institutional change. “Given Kevin’s leadership position at another AMLAW100 firm and as a former partner at a Big 4 firm, he possessed the experience and characteristics to make him absolutely the right fit for this role.”
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe is a global law firm focused on serving the technology, energy & infrastructure and finance sectors. It is widely recognized for the strength of its culture and its focus on attracting, inspiring and advancing exceptional and diverse talent. Orrick is one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For.
Caldwell Partners recently placed William Washington as director of financial analysis at Orrick. He formerly served as director of financial planning and analysis at Crowell Moring.
