Bailey Fisher Appoints Josef Woodward Leader Private Markets

December 1, 2017 – U.K.-headquartered life sciences specialist Bailey Fisher Executive Search has expanded with the addition of Josef Woodward as director and leader of private markets.

Mr. Woodward brings extensive experience in executive search, business strategy and management. Previously, he held director roles with two executive search firms. He was on the management team for a boutique executive search firm in the property industry, before spending five years in a business strategy role with international premium branded family business Fenix Outdoor, where he specialized in sporting equipment.

Based in the U.K., Mr. Woodward was responsible for realigning the firm’s channel to market while protecting the brand identity. As a result, the firm secured major online retailers as clients and increased turnover from £8 million to £25 million over a four-year period.

Search Firms Help Life Science Navigate Changing Landscape
As healthcare companies work to stay atop of their drug discovery and development pipelines as well as the competition, it is becoming increasingly apparent that their greatest need is to invest in people.

Welcome Addition

At Bailey Fisher, Mr. Woodward plays a key role in running the private markets practice, supporting the growth of owner managed, privately owned, private equity backed and listed companies through the introduction of impactful individuals to the senior leadership team, said the firm. His focus is on driving growth through innovation and partnering with businesses that are typically looking to innovate through realigning their route to market.

Mr. Woodward is currently working with a FTSE 250 international group of businesses, leading the search for a managing director for one of their high-growth subsidiaries. He is also managing the search for a business strategy director to support continued growth across the U.K., Europe, U.S. and APAC.

“I am excited to have joined the team and am keen to support the continued expansion of the private markets practice,” said Mr. Woodward. “There is huge potential within the many dynamic private companies in the region, looking to diversify and innovate. I have already been meeting many of these companies and feel very positive about working with them to add value.”

Paul Bailey, founding partner of Bailey Fisher, said Mr. Woodward is an ideal addition to the firm. “He has a wealth of experience and connections and really understands family run and owner managed businesses,” said Mr. Bailey. “Josef is already proving a huge asset to the Bailey Fisher team and I am looking forward to working with him to support the continued growth of our private markets clients.”
