accelHRate Recruits First Chief People Officer for NACD

August 28, 2020 – With the coronavirus crisis upon us, chief people officers are stepping up at businesses across the country, playing a vital role in helping organizations navigate what is looking to be an even greater challenge than the Great Recession. As a recent article in The Economist put it: “They must keep employees healthy; maintain their morale; oversee a vast remote-working experiment; and, as firms retrench, consider whether, when and how to lay workers off. Their in-trays are bulging.” Executive recruiters across the business landscape concur.

Recently, HR executive search and management consulting firm accelHRate placed Tracy Gee as the first chief people officer of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). She will be responsible for the design and delivery of talent acquisition, talent management, compensation and benefits, diversity and inclusion, and organizational effectiveness.

2020 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Recruiting Report:
Building a Balanced and Diverse Workforce

Hunt Scanlon Media’s latest market intelligence recruiting report – this time focused on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – will be available later this fall! The nation’s top executive recruiters are resetting expectations and looking for new ways forward to build balanced and diverse workforce teams for their clients.

According to executive recruiters, DE&I should not just be a priority, but an integrated part of every company’s leadership goals. Some companies have even tied DE&I metrics to executive compensation. But it’s more than that.

Part of building strong, diverse hiring teams means asking yourself: “Who is my company culture going to attract – and how will it engage people who are here?” This question can be very difficult to answer if you assume everyone feels welcome already just because you do. Fostering diversity, equity and inclusion within organizations is more than just the right ethical decision. “It is one of the best business decisions a company can make,” said Keri Gavin, a partner with Hanold Associates and leader of the search firm’s Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion practice. Hanold Associates is a proud sponsor of this year’s report. This report will help organizations prioritize DE&I as a business imperative that drives greater competitiveness, innovation and business results. Get it now!

“Tracy brings a wealth of experience to this new role within NACD, which I believe is key to NACD’s growth,” said Peter R. Gleason, CEO of NACD. “I am excited about the future with Tracy in this position, and for NACD as a whole.”

Ms. Gee has more than 25 years of human resources experience leading HR strategies and programs in multiple industries. She joins NACD from Raytheon Co., where she most recently served as vice president of human resources for the global business development function located in multiple domestic and international locations. In 2019, Ms. Gee was named by Savoy magazine as one of the Top 100 Women in Corporate America.

Ms. Gee formerly held numerous positions of increasing responsibility at Fidelity Investments and Liberty Mutual Co. She began her career at the First National Bank of Boston. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College. Ms. Gee also holds an advanced certificate in organization development and human resources management from Columbia University.
