Tyler & Company Assists Boone Hospital Center in CEO Search
August 28, 2020 – As the healthcare industry continues its transformation, talent management remains a high priority. The shortage of physicians and other clinicians is one matter. But healthcare organizations must also fill new and expanding leadership roles to carry out strategic initiatives in response to current reform efforts, and whatever changes President Donald J. Trump may produce. This has led to a high demand for top-notch leaders in the sector.
Recently, Atlanta-based executive recruitment firm Tyler & Company assisted Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO, in the recruitment of Troy Greer as its new CEO. Jim Sinek, who has headed the hospital since 2013, announced that he will retire at the end of the year. Assistant vice president Charlotte Tinsley led the assignment.
Eight applicants were chosen for phone interviews, and three were then chosen as finalists. The three finalists visited Columbia and met with the trustees, hospital staff, managers and community members. Mr. Greer was selected for the position out of almost 200 applicants.
Jerry Kennett, board of trustees chairperson, said the board was looking for a candidate who had experience managing and running a hospital of similar size to Boone. It also wanted someone ready for the challenge of transitioning from a large management system to independent management.
Mr. Greer will assume the role on Sept. 1. He will be responsible for leading Boone Health in meeting the healthcare needs in the system’s 26-county service area. He is currently chief executive officer of Lovelace Medical Center and Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
“We are excited to have someone of Troy Greer’s stature and accomplishments lead us as we embark upon our mission as an independent community hospital system,” said Mr. Kennett.
Boone Hospital Center is a 394-bed, full service, regional referral center with a reputation for excellence in cardiovascular medicine, obstetrics, neurology, oncology, orthopedics and surgical services, with 1,600 employees on its general staff and 350 physicians on the medical staff. The hospital is part of the BJC Healthcare system. It has been ranked as the No. 1 hospital in mid-Missouri and the No. 5 hospital in the state by U.S. News & World Report for five years.
