Wilton & Bain Adds Expertise to Global Technology Officers Practice

September 24, 2019 – London-based executive search firm Wilton & Bain has expanded with the addition of Colin Baker as a partner in its global technology officers’ practice. He will be located in London but will have oversight across the firm’s expanding U.S. business.

Wilton & Bain’s global technology officers’ practice focuses on hiring senior executives in technology, data, digital, AI, and cyber, among other areas, primarily working with companies going through technology transformation but also focusing on high-growth technology driven organizations. It is one of the hottest sectors in global hiring markets where Wilton & Bain seems to have a keen edge on rivals.

“Having worked with Colin Baker for six years at a previous executive search firm I am very excited that we are re-uniting at such a pivotal time in our continued growth and expansion here at Wilton & Bain,” said Lisa Peacock-Edwards, managing partner U.S. “I know that Colin has an exemplary reputation for delivering excellent customer experience, finding very scarce and highly sought-after talent for our clients and a thoughtful approach to innovation and leadership advisory services.”

Mr. Baker is a highly experienced executive search professional, specializing in senior, executive appointments within the technology, digital, operations and risk markets across financial services. Previously, he spent over nine years with Marlin Hawk, where he served as a client partner in its financial services practice where he managed key client relationships. Additionally, he also spent five years in client side roles at a number of global organizations, including UBS, JPMorgan, Barclays and T-Mobile.

“Given our focus on companies going through transformation with technology, data and digital, Colin is a key hire for us,” she said. “His leadership and insight bring a brilliant team of partners together in our London office and rounds out our existing offering very well.”

“I am genuinely thrilled to be joining Wilton & Bain to continue the development of the Technology Officers practice,” said Mr. Baker. “I’ve been thoroughly impressed with calibre of people in the business and the culture, values and ambition of the firm. I’m looking forward to working with the excellent team already in place and helping to deliver our vision for the firm over the coming months and years.”

Finding Transformative Leaders Fueling Growth & Innovation at Wilton & Bain
In the early years after its founding in 2001, London-based Wilton & Bain was content to be a respected, tightly focused professional services executive search firm. With technology as its niche, it was a good business, everyone agreed, and profitable. Yet it was relatively small and geographically limited.

Fast forward 18 years and behold a new picture: Wilton & Bain is making big gains in London and even more in the U.S., where it is in full growth and expansion mode. The firm has already planted its flag in New York (the new office opened last summer) and San Francisco (where it has had a presence since 2014). In October, Wilton & Bain will launch a three-person office in Boston, with more big plans on the horizon.

The firm recently added Tim Baker as a partner and leader of the firm’s global people and culture practice. “As we continue to grow our business globally the people and culture practice plays an important part in our success,” said Ms. Peacock-Edwards, managing partner, at the time. “With Tim joining we can be a true partner and advisor to existing and future CHROs as they look to drive change and growth within their businesses. Tim’s track record is exciting as it continues to build on our vision of thought leadership, market insights and advisory practices in Europe and the Americas.”

Wilton & Bain recently joined leading companies from a range of sectors and industries in signing the Inclusive Culture Pledge, an initiative managed by the EW Group, a diversity consultancy. Throughout 2019, the search firm will receive specialist support in the following areas: gender pay gap, inclusive leadership, inclusive recruitment, cultural intelligence, measuring success and accessible communications.

“Joining the Cultural Pledge is a public commitment that we take diversity and inclusion seriously and that we understand the need to provide our employees with a safe, fair and supportive place to work,” said Clare Elliott, group head of marketing and business operations at Wilton & Bain, who is leading the initiatives. “We’re looking forward to the events provided as part of the pledge, which will build our internal capacity and ensure we work at the cutting edge of diversity and inclusion. This is an initiative that we believe will benefit our staff, customers and stakeholders.”
