The Moran Company Seeks New Leader for No Barriers 

February 24, 2023 – The Moran Company, an executive recruitment firm that specializes in the non-profit sector, has been enlisted to help find the next executive director for No Barriers in Fort Collins, CO. Senior search consultant Mike English is leading the assignment  The non-profit is poised for a post-COVID “re-boot” and is looking for a new executive director to lead the team into the future.

Reporting to the board of directors, the executive director is responsible for leading the organization’s administration, fundraising, marketing and strategic plan implementation. The search firm notes that other key duties include program oversight, community outreach, and board development. “Most importantly, the new executive director will lead the organization forward towards the vision of building an inclusive world for all where barriers don’t stand in the way of possibilities,” The Morgan Company said. “No Barriers will celebrate 20 years in 2023, and looks forward to the new executive director building on the strength of the organization.”

Candidates should bring a high level of integrity and strong character as well as a commitment to building a strong culture consistent with No Barriers values . They should have a collaborative and approachable personality with the humility to deflect praise to others. Candidates must also have excellent communication skills with the ability to convey the organization’s mission to external stakeholders while also maintaining open lines of communication with staff. They must have leadership experience (C-suite preferred) working for an organization with an annual budget greater than $2 million. Experience with scaling organizational reach by focusing on perfecting and growing current program is also preferred.

The Moran Company Places CEO for Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement
The Moran Company has helped to place Claas Ehlers as chief executive officer, a newly created role, for the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement (CLM) in Newtown, CT. The non-profit works to teach social and emotional learning. Scarlett Lewis, who founded the organization shortly after her six-year-old son, Jesse, was murdered during the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, has stepped down from the top leadership role and continues to serve as chief movement officer. Senior search consultant Gretchen Kunkel led the assignment for the search firm. Filling the CEO role was a critical step in CLM’s plans to increase impact, said the Moran Company. Mr. Ehlers was selected after an extensive national search. He previously served as CEO of Family Promise, a national federated non-profit addressing family homelessness.


Mr. English joined The Moran Company in 2020. He previously served as inaugural executive director of Turn the Page KC, a reading proficiency organization for third graders, for whom he still consults. Before that, he was president and CEO of the Missouri Council on Economic Education, based at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The organization promotes and conducts economic and financial education in all Missouri schools. Mr. English was also a senior analyst for the Kauffman Foundation, which aspires “to eliminate barriers so that every person – regardless of their background – can take risks, achieve success and give back to their communities.” His earliest work experience involved managing the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project, a non-profit dedicated to promoting civic and community engagement for young professionals.

The Moran Company has recruited Elizabeth Moran as the new executive director of The Arc of Colorado in Denver, CO.  Ms. Moran comes to The Arc of Colorado with an extensive background in working in disability rights across the lifespan, including her most recent work as chief counsel at the American Bar Association (ABA) Commission on Law and Aging, where she provided substantive support and expertise to the commission specifically in the areas of guardianship, supported decision-making, capacity issues and abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Founded in 1954, the Arc of Colorado has 15 chapters including the state chapter and 14 local chapters serving designated geographic areas. Local chapters provide individual advocacy services for children and adults with intellectual developmental disabilities who live in their service areas. The non-profit has 3,700 members, with over 9,000 individuals and families served annually.
