The Bowdoin Group Expands to the West Coast

October 25, 2018 – Boston-based executive recruitment firm The Bowdoin Group has expanded to the West Coast with addition of Lori Smudsky as a principal, talent acquisition services. Based in San Francisco, she will be the firm’s first team member based on the West Coast and will focus on overseeing talent acquisition support services for clients.

Ms. Smudsky previously served as talent acquisition lead in California on-site for Intarcia Therapeutics, a private, pre-commercial biotechnology company. During her nearly three-year tenure, she hired over 200 people. Prior to that role, she owned and operated a San Francisco Bay Area branch of the boutique executive recruiting franchise Corps Team / Mom Corps. Ms. Smudsky holds a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan and an master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.

In July, the firm continued its growth efforts with the strategic hiring of a principal based in New York City and a head of marketing to lead strategic efforts. Winston Chou joined the firm as a principal. With significant retained search experience, he has worked with global consulting and professional services firms in placing lateral partners and practice leaders, and has also built a C-suite track record with clients including Fortune 500 companies and private equity firms. He focuses on clients in digital health, fintech, financial services and technology, as well as others.

Joining as head of marketing, Emily Leinbach brings significant industry expertise in marketing and brand building in tech and professional services. She previously served as head of marketing at Progress Partners, a tech- and media-focused boutique investment bank based in Boston. There, she developed and oversaw all strategic marketing activities, including the firm’s C-level summit, Progress Connect.

This spring, the search firm added three veteran recruiters to its fold: Kirk Bukowski, Brad Bauer and Jeff Harris all come to the firm from the Boston office of global search firm Tatum, a Randstad company. Mr. Bukowski joins Bowdoin Group as a vice president, bringing more than 25 years’ experience in executive search and talent management consulting to the firm. Also joining Bowdoin as a vice president, Mr. Bauer has more than 20 years’ business and consulting experience in human capital and talent acquisition. Mr. Harris comes aboard as director, bringing more than 20 years’ experience in executive search, management consulting and sales.
