Judith Walker

Judith Walker is Vice President at Vetted Solutions, a Washington, D.C.-based executive search firm specializing in serving the leadership needs of associations, nonprofit organizations, hospitality and destination marketing industries nationwide. Judy has more than 25 years experience in the management of non-profit organizations, both professional groups and trade associations. She was employed for almost 20 years by the SmithBucklin Corporation, serving as the head of their Communications Division, managing large associations (budgets in excess of $1 million), and finally serving as Executive Vice President, Healthcare Business Unit. In the latter role, Judy served on the Management Committee for the entire Corporation and was responsible for the profitability of the healthcare business unit and the hiring and oversight of all employees who held the position of Executive Director or Executive Vice President of health-related organizations. Since leaving SmithBucklin, Judy has worked independently as a consultant, and in that role has served as an Interim Executive Director for several medical groups, working closely with the board and search committees to assess candidates for the permanent role. She has also done strategic planning and organizational audits, developed and overseen an RFP process for management services, and has handled executive searches. She recently stepped down as a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Osteoporosis Foundation, and during her tenure there, she served as a member of the Search Committee replacing the outgoing Executive. Judy’s direct experience in the demands of an executive position honed as the chief executive of numerous professional and trade associations provide her with an in-depth understanding of the skills and abilities required for a successful executive. In addition, her consulting work with boards and service as a board member herself, give her unique insights into the responsibilities and time constraints board members and search committees face today. Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from St Mary’s College, Notre Dame, and a Masters of Arts degree in education from Trinity College. She has also competed all course work toward a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Catholic University. In addition to her consulting work, Judy is actively involved in her community, serving as a member of the board of her Property Owners Association. She also recently served as Campaign Manager for the current mayor of her hometown of Beaufort, SC.
