Catherine A. Brown, FASAE, CAE, based in Los Angeles, CA, most recently served as President of the John Wayne Cancer Foundation (JWCF) where she was responsible for the strategic direction, revenue generation and talent management for this $16M foundation. She currently continues on a part time basis providing strategic counsel to the Vice President and senior staff. Prior to joining JWCF, Cathy most recently served as the Vice President, Pacific West Region of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). As Region VP, she was accountable for the revenue generation, operations and strategic positioning of the region, which encompasses seven states and generated more than $40 million for the LLS mission. Previously, she was Executive Director of the Greater Bay Area Chapter, LLS. Cathy has more than 35 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector, having served as Executive Director for philanthropic organizations and professional associations, including the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation (CAAF) headquartered in Los Angeles. She served CAAF in the role of Executive Director and subsequently President, expanding the organization from a regional foundation to an international organization. In addition, she has held executive level corporate positions in the hospitality and meetings industry. Cathy is a Certified Association Executive and a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). She received her Bachelor of Science Degree (Nursing) from Hunter College of The City University of New York and her Masters of Science Degree (Nursing) from the University of Pennsylvania, where she also minored in Health Care Management at the Wharton School of Business. She also holds an appointment on the Development Committee of the ASAE Foundation.
