Onstott Group Promotes Cullen Onstott to Managing Director

September 30, 2019 – The Onstott Group, a Wellesley, MA-based executive search firm, has named Cullen Onstott as managing director. Mr. Onstott, the son of founder and CEO Joe Onstott, will continue his search practice, primarily in the energy, financial services and technology industries, and will now assume expanded operational responsibilities. He has been with the firm for three years.

“Cullen combines a tremendous work ethic with a strategic approach to every assignment he manages,” said the elder Mr. Onstott. “In a relatively short period of time, Cullen has placed a substantial number of executives, and helped client companies build out their respective executive management teams.”

Cullen Onstott was named a vice president with the firm in 2016. “Pat Campbell and I are very pleased to have our son Cullen join the business,” said Joe Onstott at the time. “He brings a fresh perspective, a keen knowledge of digital media, strong analytical skills, and good executive presence.”

Prior to joining the Onstott Group, the younger Mr. Onstott was an energy trader at DTE Energy Trading, a physical and financial gas and power marketing company in Houston, TX. Before that, he spent five years at Morgan Stanley, in the firm’s institutional commodities division in New York. Mr. Onstott started his career as an investment analyst at Rocaton Investment Advisors in Norwalk, CT, a leading institutional investment consulting firm.

Cullen Onstott holds an MBA from Rice University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Fairfield University. While at Fairfield, he served as the chief operating officer of the Fairfield Investment Group.

New Additions

Onstott Group has also retained Brian Quirk as a partner consultant. Mr. Quirk, who has spent the majority of his career in global operations in the high-technology sector, will bolster the firm’s expertise in the technology and manufacturing industries.

As Millennials continue to look at any number of industries for opportunities to work and gain knowledge, this particular generation seems enamored with considering executive search as a primary career path. Mr. Onstott recently sat down with Hunt Scanlon Media to discuss why he decided to make this move now and examine the potential challenges he might face in his new endeavor.

Most recently, Mr. Quirk was senior vice president of global operations at MKS Instruments. In this role, he led the company’s operations, which includes over 20 facilities in 12 countries. Mr. Quirk was also in charge of integrating the mergers and acquisitions for the company.

Mr. Quirk is an expert in six sigma and lean manufacturing methodologies, along with metrology and product data management systems and implementations. He left MKS in late 2018 and founded BCQ Operational Excellence, advising manufacturers and operating companies on business and market strategy, operations management, lean methodology, organizational planning, and other key techniques.

Mr. Quirk holds an MBA from Suffolk University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bentley University.
