McDermott + Bull Expands to San Francisco and Dallas

December 3, 2019 – Irvine, CA-based search firm McDermott + Bull has expanded with the addition of new offices San Francisco and Dallas. Within the last three years, the firm has broadened its reach throughout the U.S. and internationally, including the opening of offices in Canada and Europe.

Linda Sierra, managing director in San Francisco, and Jeff Katon, managing director in Dallas, have been added to the McDermott + Bull team to lead business development and play a crucial role in broadening the firm’s life sciences and healthcare practices.

The San Francisco life sciences practice will specialize in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical device industries. The newly launched healthcare practice in Dallas is aimed at integrated delivery systems, community-based medical centers and physician group practices with a specific focus on skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care.

“Our continuous investment in relationship-driven industry experts has been a catalyst for our vision of global expansion,” said co-founder and CEO Rod McDermott. “As we continue to increase our market share in California and Texas, it is imperative to strengthen our expertise in various industries, including healthcare and life sciences.”

Ms. Sierra brings nine years of experience in executive search and 18 years in the biotechnology industry in human resources and recruiting, splitting her time between San Francisco and San Diego. She has a well-rounded background of knowledge with hands-on experience in all stages of companies from start-up, to IPO, to pre-clinical, to product launch.

Previously, she served as vice president of customer experience at life sciences-focused firm Toft Group Executive Search. Prior to working in executive search, she spent 18 years in four biotechnology companies and one diagnostic company in San Diego and San Francisco.

Mr. Katon has over 27 years of experience in the healthcare search industry. Prior to McDermott + Bull, he was managing director and regional vice president at THMED Executive Search, where he focused on developing strong relationships while providing consultative support to his clients, including hospitals and other health services providers throughout the U.S. Before that, he was director of business development for RGP.
