Carrington & Carrington Retained by Safer Foundation to Lead CFO Search

May 8, 2023 – Carrington & Carrington Diversity Executive Search has been selected by the Safer Foundation to lead its search for a new chief financial officer. The CFO is responsible for all budgeting, financial accounting, financial and asset controls, purchasing, collections, payables, investments, financial analysis, the financial aspects of business planning, and a variety of administrative functions. This executive assures that other managers and the board of Safer have timely and accurate information with which to make decisions. Reporting directly to the president and CEO, the CFO is an integral part of Safer’s senior management team and will be relied on to articulate and manage to the organization’s desired culture. The CFO responsibilities extend to all subsidiaries and related entities of the Safer Foundation.

Candidates should have knowledge of all accounting techniques, standards, regulations, and practices. They must have solid working knowledge of the investment and capital resource community as well as a high knowledge level regarding taxation for both profit and not-for-profit organizations.

Carrington & Carrington is looking for professionals with 15 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience. They should have seven years in an executive-level position having produced useful and accessible financial analysis while successfully managing a financial operation. In addition, candidates should have experience managing through others. They should possess an excellent record as a developer of people with excellent interpersonal, written communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.

Candidates should have an understanding of all of the following and detailed knowledge in at least one of the following areas:

• Acquisitions.

• Cash management.

• Investments.

• Start-ups.

• Cost accounting.

Carrington & Carrington Seeks Leader for Provident Hospital of Cook County
Carrington & Carrington Diversity Executive Search has been enlisted to find the next chief hospital executive (CHE) for Provident Hospital of Cook County, a community acute care hospital in Chicago. Provident Hospital is the first African-American owned and operated hospital in America. Search firm co-founder Willie Carrington is leading the assignment. The chief hospital executive will be expected to provide leadership and direction for hospital operations, with accountability for operational and financial performance and the development and implementation of business plans and organizational initiatives, said Chicago-based Carrington & Carrington.


Mr. Carrington has played and continues to play a significant role in increasing the representation of diverse professionals in major companies including banking, finance, manufacturing, and utilities. Prior to this, he was executive director of Inroads/Chicago and an auditor for the former CPA firm Arthur Andersen & Company.

Ms. Carrington is heavily focused in the firm’s healthcare, academic, and non-profit sectors. She was previously a human resources and operations executive with Allstate Insurance. She focuses in large part on the healthcare, academic, and non-profit sectors.

Recently Called In

Carrington & Carrington was recently enlisted to find an associate chief human resources officer, talent management for Cook County Health (CCH), a safety net health system for low-income patients in the Chicago area. This executive leads the human resources/talent management team providing leadership and direction to support and advance the mission and goals of Cook County Health. The individual will be responsible for strategic planning and the delivery of effective HR strategies overseeing talent acquisition, compensation, and operations for CCH. In addition, this executive develops improvement programs and initiatives, ensures compliance with state and federals laws and regulations, the CCH employment plan, and the joint commission.

Cook County Health also recently enlisted Carrington & Carrington to help find a chief behavioral health officer (CBHO). The CBHO will serve the organization as both the lead on behavioral health strategy and program development. The CBHO will be accountable for guiding the Cook County Health executive team and directly interfacing with all levels of staff to further behavioral health resources and solutions throughout Cook County and leading CCH’s Office of Behavioral Health, said Carrington & Carrington.
