Caliber Associates Fills Senior Post for INOVIO Pharmaceuticals

March 28, 2022 – San Diego, CA- based Caliber Associates recently placed David Liebowitz as senior vice president, clinical development at INOVIO Pharmaceuticals. The assignment was led by Steven P. Hochberg, the search firm’s founder and CEO. “David is a highly experienced and strategic leader of clinical development having advanced numerous programs through the regulatory process,” said Mr. Hochberg.

Dr. Liebowitz brings more than two decades of clinical experience including global pharmaceutical companies and development stage biopharmaceutical organizations. His expertise includes vaccines, infectious disease, and oncology clinical development. Most recently, Dr. Liebowitz was the chief medical officer at DNAtrix. Previously, he was vice president of clinical oncology at Xencor and also served as chief medical officer for Vaxart. Earlier, Dr. Liebowitz held strategic R&D positions with Vivaldi Biosciences, Galileo Pharmaceuticals, Amgen, and Immunex.

INOVIO Pharmaceuticals is a biotechnology company focused on bringing to market precisely designed DNA medicines to treat and protect people from infectious diseases and cancer. INOVIO has 15 DNA medicine clinical programs currently in development focused on HPV-associated diseases, cancer, and infectious diseases, including coronaviruses associated with COVID-19 and MERS, for which programs are being developed with funding support from the U.S. Department of Defense and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).

In September, Caliber Associates placed Robert Crotty as the new executive vice president and general counsel of INOVIO Pharmaceuticals. “Rob brings significant industry experience leading the legal function of several successful biotech companies,” said Mr. Hochberg. Mr. Crotty joins INOVIO from Nabriva Therapeutics, where he served as general counsel and secretary.

Last July, Caliber Associates placed former Allergan executive, Asli Gevgilili, as the new chief human resource officer (CHRO) of INOVIO Pharmaceuticals. “We believe Asli’s depth of expertise and experience will provide important focus to INOVIO’s growth strategy,” Mr. Hochberg said. Ms. Gevgilili has global experience in human resources strategy, team leadership, executive development, organization development and culture, talent capability building, and reward recognition programs within life sciences. Most recently, she served as vice president of human resources for Allergan PLC/ AbbVie.
