Tyzack Partners Expands Search Staff

September 18, 2019 – U.K.-headquartered executive search firm Tyzack Partners has expanded with the additions of Andy Austin, James Wheeler and Zany Anton-Smith as partners.

“I am delighted that we have been able to strengthen the Tyzack team with three experienced individuals who we have known and respected for a long time and who share our vision of providing a high quality personalized service to our clients based on the cultivation of long term relationships,” said David Dumeresque, partner at Tyzack. “It shows the attractiveness of the Tyzack model and our commitment to providing our clients with a market leading service.”

Mr. Austin will continue his work with Dobson Lyle, where he is founder and CEO, while also working with Tyzack to provide profiling and mentoring and search services for their clients. He brings a wealth of experience in global interim management and human resource consultancy. Mr. Austin has extensive experience in asset management search on a pan-European level and will work to increase Tyzack’s burgeoning presence in the investment trust sector.

In addition, Mr. Austin has had a long and distinguished career in the military, business and executive search. He is an expert in personal DNA profiling. In the latter capacity, he has worked with many top sports professionals, including F1 Motor Racing, rugby, golf, football and various other sport disciplines, enabling them to maximize individual and team performance. His work in the corporate world goes from profiling and mentoring top 100 CEOs and senior executives to objective board evaluations, the profiling and restructuring of whole management teams, conflict resolution, general performance improvements and recruitment.

Long Established U.K. Recruiter

“It is an absolute pleasure to be associated with Tyzack Partners, one of the longest established and respected businesses in the industry,” Mr. Austin said. “I have known the company, Neal and David for many years and look forward to helping them make Tyzack the executive search company of choice.”

Mr. Wheeler has more than 40 years of experience in executive recruitment including seven years in-house with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) where he ran the international desk. Since 1996, he has specialized in board level interim management and non-executive appointments while managing London firms in this marketplace. Much of Mr. Wheeler’s work now is involved with the portfolio businesses of private equity investors and lenders in the U.K. and globally, working closely with stakeholders and their advisors. This includes finding independent directors for commercial due diligence, sector advisory and “First 100 Days” projects. He has managed specialist turnaround panels for leading firms of chartered accountants and continues to focus on restructuring and performance improvement.

“Having known the Tyzack team for many years I believe that my area of expertise is a natural fit sitting alongside their established executive search practice,” said Mr. Wheeler. “And it is refreshing to share an approach to the often complex and challenging needs of our clients especially in the current environment of uncertainty here and internationally.”

Ms. Anton-Smith specializes in asset management and investment trust assignments. Previously, she was with Odgers Berndtson in France. After an early career in marketing and events, she joined Robert Walters, before joining a boutique search firm based in London and Paris, specializing in capital markets and asset management searches on a pan-European basis.

“It was important for me to join a highly regarded and established search firm that believes wholly in the importance of a bespoke and individual service,” Ms. Anton-Smith said. “At Tyzack, we share the same way of thinking and I look forward to offering clients creative, highly targeted solutions leveraging off my strong and diverse relationships in finance across the U.K. and Europe.”

Tyzack’s 60-year history makes the firm one of the U.K.’s longest established board-level search firms. Leveraging its network in both the financial and corporate sectors, the firm is positioned to help construct effective boards for investment trust. Tyzack works with organizations including international PLCs, professional partnerships, small and medium cap companies, and early-stage/private equity-backed ventures. Alongside its corporate practices, the firm has a strong presence in the not-for-profit and government sectors.
