TRANSEARCH Elects Chairman

March 11, 2019 – TRANSEARCH International has elected Ulrich F Ackermann as its new chairman. He succeeds Alain Tanugi, who after three decades as chairman recently retired.

Mr. Ackermann has been managing partner of TRANSEARCH in Germany since 1996. In 2000, he was appointed as a member of the board of TRANSEARCH International Partners and became vice chairman in 2011.

Prior to executive search, Mr. Ackermann spent almost 20 years in the consumer goods industry. He established the Italian sport fashion company ellesse in Germany before spending almost 10 years with the adidas Group, ultimately as CEO of adidas Sarragan SA, with global responsibility for four brands. He was then appointed to the executive board of Hugo Boss AG, and was finally chairman of the board of a medium-sized holding company.

Mr. Ackermann will continue as managing partner of TRANSEARCH in Germany which he will head in conjunction with Carlo Mackrodt, who joined the company as an additional managing partner this past January.

“I am delighted to serve as chairman of this highly respected and successful global search firm,” Mr. Ackermann said. “With the exceptional skills of our global team and their desire to excel we aim to be the partners our clients require in addressing their needs. The complex mix of talent management challenges in a world marked by talent shortage and digitization are top priorities for our clients and we will partner with them find the right solutions.”

Growing Global Firm

TRANSEARCH is a global search firm with representation in all of the major economic capitals, with about 60 offices in over 35 countries. It was founded in 1982 and today completes more than 1,500 senior executive search assignments a year. Its global client base is in the financial services, technology, consumer and retail, life sciences and industrial and resources sectors.

TRANSEARCH recently expanded into Switzerland with the addition of Nordwand Group AG. The team in Zürich is headed by Danny Hiscott and Martin Honegger. Nordwand Group is a managed specialist in professional search and interim management. The firm offers consultancy and coaching to senior candidates looking for a new career.

Celeste Whatley, CEO of TRANSEARCH, called Switzerland one of the most competitive countries in the world with an open, successful economy. “There is a constant war for talent due to the desirability of working and living in Switzerland,” she said. “With a large proportion of our multinational clients headquartered in Switzerland, we are very excited to welcome Danny Hiscott and Martin Honegger and their team on board. Danny and Martin have headed up successful human resources consulting businesses in the past and have a deep knowledge of building leadership teams in complex multi-cultural environments.”

TRANSEARCH also recently strengthened its presence in Asia Pacific by opening a new office in Indonesia, adding Davehunt International, a boutique human capital consultancy firm, to its fold. Davehunt specializes in quality senior-level executive search, training, consulting, assessment, coaching and outsourcing.

“Indonesia’s place in Asia Pacific and indeed within the world has never been more important, not only because of its strategic geographic location but because of its robust economy and society,” said Ms. Whatley. “It has a huge potential to contribute greatly to the Asia economy in future. David Wongso and his team are a welcome addition to strengthening our Asia Pacific team. David is relentless in his pursuit of excellence and as such shares the TRANSEARCH values of delivering uncompromising quality service to our clients.”
