TM² Executive Search Assists Prairie View A&M University Find New VP of University Advancement

September 26, 2024 – After a national search led by TM² Executive Search (TM²), a subsidiary of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, has assisted in the recruitment of Jeff Shaw as the new vice president for university advancement of Prairie View A&M University. The search was led by managing principal, Dr. Dakota Doman and principal, Dr. Amanda Washington Lockett. “Jeff is an accomplished, energetic, and future-focused leader, with an incredible knowledge-base, who will be instrumental in helping us achieve our vision of becoming a premier, research-intensive HBCU that is a national model for student success,” said Tomikia P. LeGrande, president. “Mr. Shaw is a seasoned development, alumni relations and non-profit foundation leader with a rich background in higher education, fundraising, process improvement, and team leadership.”

Mr. Shaw is currently serving as vice president for institutional advancement at Harris-Stowe State University. A position he has held since 2021, Mr. Shaw manages all fundraising endeavors and defines and implements advancement strategies in consultation with senior leadership. During his tenure at Harris-Stowe, he has established processes to build the university endowment, recruited foundation board members, and led the migration and implementation of a new CRM system critical to the tracking of donor giving and alumni engagement. Under his leadership, overall fundraising increased by over 200 percent in his first year.

Mr. Shaw started his career in fundraising at Florida A&M University, where he managed annual giving and advancement services and is marked by successive leadership roles. He transitioned from Florida A&M to Texas Southern University, becoming the associate vice president for development with oversight for the strategic direction of all fundraising efforts alumni campaigns, and increasing the university endowment.

In his role as VP for university advancement at PVAMU, Mr. Shaw will be charged with enhancing the university’s fundraising initiatives, further developing the foundation’s role of fostering donations and support of the university, cultivating and growing alumni engagement, and providing oversight to university marketing and communications. As a member of the president’s cabinet, Mr. Shaw will play a critical role in advancing PVAMU’s growth and expansion as outlined in the strategic plan – Journey to Eminence: 2035.

Prairie View A&M University is a public historically black land-grant university in Prairie View, TX. Founded in 1876, it is one of Texas’s two land-grant universities and the second oldest public institution of higher learning in the state. It offers baccalaureate degrees in 50 academic majors, 37 master’s degrees and four doctoral degree programs through eight colleges and the School of Architecture.

Recent Additions

Dr. Washington Lockett recently joined TM² as principal and senior consultant. She is a dedicated scholar-practitioner with over a decade of  experience in higher education and strategy development. Dr. Washington Lockett’s research and practice focus on innovations in higher education, transformative leadership and institutional sustainability. She has served as a strategic advisor to the presidents of two Minority Serving Institutions and most recently served as a Strategist for the Institute for Capacity Building (ICB) at the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). In this role, she developed strategic priorities and initiatives that improved the sustainability and institutional outcomes of HBCUs.


TM² Executive Search Fills Senior Position for Benedict College

TM² Executive Search (TM²) has recruited Yohannis A. Job as the vice president of enrollment management at Benedict College in Columbia, SC. Beyond her experience in higher education, Dr. Washington Lockett has experience from the executive search industry. She honed her skills at True Search, where she was part of the people, talent, and legal team. In this role, she played a key part in connecting exceptional talent with leading organizations. Her placements included board members, C-suite executives, vice presidents, directors, and other strategic hires for both private and public companies.

TM² recently also added Ndeh Will Anyu as associate principal and search consultant. Dr. Anyu has over a decade of experience spanning executive search, higher education, and corporate environments. His career began in higher education as assistant director at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Minority Serving Institutions, where he managed programs and developed initiatives for students, faculty, and administrators nationwide.

Dr. Anyu’s journey in executive search started at Storbeck Search as a junior associate, supporting C-suite searches for educational and non-profit organizations. After Storbeck, he joined HTI/True Search as a senior associate leading dozens of executive level searches across diverse sectors including climate tech, edtech, and CEO & board practices.

Jessica Horton also joined TM² as an associate principal and search consultant, brings extensive experience in higher education, having worked in Ohio, Louisiana, Wisconsin, and Florida. Her career spans roles in advancement and student affairs, where she excels in identifying overlooked perspectives and translating them into organizational strategies. During her tenure in education, Ms. Horton a leveraged her network to create learning opportunities for students, staff, and faculty. Prior to TM², she recruited for boutique search firms specializing in private and public sector executive placements.
