Building Talent Strategies for Early-Stage Companies
Moderator: Siadhal Magos Co-founder & CEO– Metaview Locke Jillson Vice President, Executive Talent – Lightspeed Venture PartnersEarly Stage venture-backed companies (often having received the first round of private funding — a “Series A”) often require a comprehensive support strategy that is typically more “art” than “science.” For many first time founders of early stage companies, significant leverage can come from a full examination of the company’s business objectives alongside the current organizational chart, during which key recommendations are made to identify which executive hires will be critical to reach their business goals. In this presentation Locke Jillson, VP executive talent at Lightspeed Venture Partners, explains how he and his talent colleagues create a more tactical approach to building the best management teams through sequential hiring. This includes a process of building a set of key characteristics for positions that are critical to creating a successful investment outcome.
