Boyd & Moore is a global executive recruitment firm operating primarily in the technology sector, serving multinational clients. The agency also offers recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) and market mapping.
With $1 billion in revenue and more than 13,000 engineers supporting Japan’s industrial, manufacturing, automotive, and technology industries, TechnoPro is Japan’s largest engineering staffing outfit. Through extensive discussions between Boyd & Moore’s founders and the executive team of TechnoPro, both parties saw the potential for major synergies in the acquisition.
Agreement
Boyd & Moore will maintain its brand and operational independence and will contribute its expertise in the area of permanent executive search, along with its intelligence capabilities and international knowhow. “We expect the partnership with TechnoPro to greatly increase demand for our talent solutions outside of Japan,” said Jon Underland, co-founder of Boyd & Moore. “In our experience, the more conversations we engage in across the region, the more business we end up with back here in Japan. This market is always a real pain point.”
Co-founder Tony Moore said he regarded the acquisition as a big step forward for the firm’s plans in the region. “It’s another great milestone in our mission to empower organizations in Asia Pacific through introducing great people and offering valuable insights,” he said.
Mr. Underland has been in Japan’s executive search industry for over 15 years. His network extends from Silicon Valley to Asia Pacific and he has assisted more than 60 companies enter and build their operations in the region. His recruitment efforts have focused on venture-funded start-up companies in the network and telecommunications space.
In addition to leading a 30-plus member sales force, Mr. Moore is responsible for Boyd & Moore’s strategic direction, business development initiatives and operations and directly oversees the company’s technology search practice. He remains highly active in search, maintaining a diverse range of tech clients and focusing on executive level roles within Japan and throughout Asia. He has been an executive search professional in Japan since 1999.
TechnoPro Group intends to leverage the acquisition by promoting medium and long-term solutions in the HR tech area, the firm said.
