Sheffield Haworth Names CEO; Makes Other Senior Appointments
January 9, 2024 – Global leadership advisory and executive search firm Sheffield Haworth has announced a series of management appointments. “These appointments mark an important milestone and new chapter for Sheffield Haworth,” said Tim Sheffield, founder and chair of Sheffield Haworth. “Each executive brings a unique set of skills and experience to the future growth and success of the company. I am confident that under their leadership, we will continue to progress towards the strategic vision and ambitions of the group.”
Alex Cormack has been appointed as CEO. In this newly created role, he will be responsible for delivering the corporate strategy set by the board and chairing the executive management committee.
Mr. Cormack has been responsible for the financial services and real assets practices globally and personally leads the alternative investments practice. He is also chair of the group’s executive management committee. Mr. Cormack focuses on senior executive search in financial services, working in partnership with a range of clients including institutional investors, Sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, alternative investors and investment banks. He has track record of executing senior searches across several different functional and specialist areas, including at CEO, chief investment officer, CFO, and COO level. Mr. Cormack has 20 years of experience in executive search and advisory for a range of clients and has worked at Sheffield Haworth since 2004, having worked across practices and geographies, performing a variety of leadership roles.
Patrick Meehan has been appointed as the chief financial and operating officer, expanding his role from group finance director. He will oversee the financial and operational health of the company and drive strategic planning on behalf of the board, reporting directly to the CEO. Mr. Meehan joined Sheffield Haworth in 2015, prior to this he worked for GVC Holdings PLC, managing their group financial reporting function.
Sheffield Haworth also named Emily Von Kohorn as a member of the executive management committee. She will continue as co-head of the global real assets practice alongside Jennifer Novack. Ms. Von Kohorn joined Sheffield Haworth in 2017. Based in New York, she brings a background in real estate asset management, development, capital raising, and investor relations from Tishman Speyer, Fir Tree Partners, and her own advisory firm.

Julian Bell has been appointed as global head of the banking and markets practices in addition to his current position as head of the U.S. region. He specializes in corporate banking, investment banking, M&A, equity & debt capital markets, private equity and infrastructure, covering the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Over the years, Mr. Bell has completed senior assignments in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Brazil in addition to the U.K., Europe, Russia, Middle East and South Africa. He joined Sheffield Haworth in 2004 in London, before moving to New York in 2007.
Sheffield Haworth Acquires Symbiosis Search
Sheffield Haworth has acquired Symbiosis Search, an executive search consultancy for leadership roles across fast-growth enterprise software and SaaS companies. The acquisition brings together Sheffield Haworth’s existing expertise in the technology sector in EMEA, currently known as SH Gillamor Stephens, with Symbiosis’ experience enabling the international growth of innovative software and SaaS companies. Together the teams will form part of the global technology practice at Sheffield Haworth. Founded in 2002, Symbiosis Search works for organizations across the software industry, specializing in disruptive growth companies supplying high-end enterprise-class solutions. The firm works with VC and other investor-backed start-up and scale-up vendors expanding across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific regions.
Lastly, Jennifer Novack, co-head of the global real assets practice, and Helen Tudor, managing director and global head of diversity, equity and inclusion, have been appointed to the senior advisory board, advising on strategic and corporate governance matters and acting as senior ambassadors for the group.
