David Clapp

Managing Partner

Dave is Managing Partner of CarterBaldwin. His search practice spans “C”, officer and VP level searches for global 1000 corporations, mid-market companies, professional service firms and nonprofit/mission oriented enterprises. He also works with multiple PE and venture firms on key leadership assignments for portfolio companies. Dave brings a distinct client-side empathy and perspective to his search practice, having entered executive search after a successful 25 year business career that included leadership roles in large global corporations as well as several successful early stage/startup ventures.

Prior to joining CarterBaldwin, Dave was SVP & GM for Thomson Reuters Corporation, where he led a global organization and had P&L responsibility for several software and service businesses. Earlier, Dave was VP of Strategy & Business Development for Thomson where he led strategy and M&A for one of the company’s four divisions. Dave joined Thomson via their acquisition of a VC backed software and service business he founded in 1998 along with several partners.

Prior to his years as a tech company executive, Dave held senior brand & customer marketing roles with The Coca-Cola Company and earlier with Cadbury Beverages. He started his career in sales with Xerox.

Dave has a Masters in Management from the Kellogg business school at Northwestern University and a BA in Political Science from Lawrence University. He and his wife Mary Anne have four children and are active in several global missions endeavors. Dave also serves on the boards of The Sandy Springs Mission and CRU. He enjoys mountain biking, cooking and an active outdoor lifestyle.
