October 11, 2018 – Cybersecurity might well might the greatest challenge facing corporate America today. The threat to reputation, private information and dollars — both from immediate theft and the cost of repairing the damage of a cyber-attack — can be staggering. Yet too few companies have taken adequate measures to protect themselves. No one can deny that it is a difficult challenge. But failing to meet it head on is only asking for trouble down the line.
Executive search firms have taken quick note of this and many have expanded in the cybersecurity field. Recently, Quantum Search Partners, a provider of executive recruiting services across the technology, data analytics and digital sectors, named Stephen Spagnuolo as managing director, digital security & risk practice leader. His core responsibilities will be to source, develop and manage key strategic client relationships, and to further establish Quantum as a firm of choice in cybersecurity recruiting.
“We are incredibly excited to have Stephen join our team as our cyber practice leader,” said Brandon Glyck, president and managing director of Quantum. “He brings immeasurable value from his deep experience working with executive leadership across numerous companies spanning the corporate life cycle, and he has established himself as an extremely well-respected thought leader among the cybersecurity and risk management ecosystem.”
Quantum recruits high-impact executive, management and technology professionals for both established and high-growth organizations. “We are tireless in our pursuit of the best talent across industries and unrelenting in our commitment to supporting our client partners achieve their full potential,” said Mr. Glyck. “Not only are we excited to capitalize on his extensive relationships and new business development prowess, but also Stephen’s expansive leadership capabilities will greatly benefit our growing team overall.”
Proven Track Record
Mr. Spagnuolo brings a long record of recruiting executive and next-level-down security leaders on behalf of a wide-ranging client base. In addition to large-scale public and private organizations, he has supported the requirements for leading global investment banks, early stage growth companies and consulting organizations of all sizes.
Scrambling for Cybersecurity Leaders is Big Business for Recruiters
Cyberattacks are growing in magnitude, complexity and frequency, and these massive security lapses have left many companies vulnerable. The need for cybersecurity executives reaches across virtually all industries.
Previously, Mr. Spagnuolo was a managing director with ZRG Partners. There he was hired with a mandate to launch and build a consequential cybersecurity and security services search practice. Before that, he founded and led SASearch Advisors, a strategic leadership advisory firm that focused on the intersection of human capital, leadership and geopolitical developments on a global basis. Earlier in his career, Mr. Spagnuolo gained search experience with the Gerson Group, Sheffield Haworth and Russell Reynolds Associates.
A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Mr. Spagnuolo later served with distinction as a Marine Corps infantry officer. He’s been published in the Wall Street Journal (CISO assessment study) and is a featured cyber blogger for CSO Online and HMG Strategy. He also serves as a founding advisory board member for HMG Strategy’s CISO Executive Leadership Summit Series.
Mr. Spagnuolo said he was inspired to join Quantum Search Partners having long recognized a gap in the traditional search model. “The Quantum team is dedicated to offering the best elements of both a focused contingency practice — responsive, economical, culture-aligned — and retained search — research driven, methodical, highly personalized,” he said. “I’m very excited to leverage my nearly 20 years of executive search experience to bolster and expand Quantum’s cybersecurity and retained search practices, and to work with a company that is passionately devoted to our clients’ success.”
Quantum Search Partners has a 25-year track record of recruiting high-impact executive, management, and technical talent on behalf of a wide array of clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies, global consulting services firms, and federal contractors, to venture capital and private equity backed technology, SaaS, and cyber organizations. The firm is headquartered in Arlington, VA.
