Novare Executive Search Finds New CEO for Energiföretagen Sverige

December 2, 2020 – Stockholm-headquartered Novare Executive Search has placed Åsa Pettersson as the new CEO of Energiföretagen Sverige, a member association for the Swedish energy industry. She will begin her new role by April 15. Pernilla Winnhed announced her resignation in June. Gunilla Andrée will continue as acting CEO until Ms. Pettersson joins Energiföretagen Sverige.

“In recent months, we have worked very intensively to find the best possible candidate for the job and I am happy to say that it was a unanimous board that proposed Åsa Pettersson,” said Monica Karlsson, Energiföretagen’s chairman of the board. “The job requires deep industry knowledge, international understanding but also experience from other industries in transition. Åsa has all this and she is warmly welcome back to the energy industry. I know she will work to create benefits for all member companies, large and small.”

Building Partnerships

For the last six years, Ms. Pettersson has been head of public affairs and sustainability for Sweden-based Scania, which manufacturers commercial vehicles. Before that, she held several positions at the Swedish energy company Vattenfall.

“I am very happy and honored about the assignment,” said Ms. Pettersson. “The energy industry is an engine for the whole of Sweden’s adjustment and is absolutely crucial for us to achieve our climate goals. Several sectors depend on access to clean energy to cope with their transition, and here the energy companies have an important role to play in the coming years as a unified voice for the industry vis-à-vis politics and other actors.”

“In my current role, the focus has been on building partnerships and relationships to accelerate the transition, partly with companies in the transport sector, with other industries and in collaboration with politics,” she said. “I hope that my experiences, in combination with the years at Vattenfall, contribute to me, together with all employees and member companies, being able to continue to strengthen and develop the energy companies’ relations with the outside world.”
